The rebate requires the serial number of your earlier version. Mine was in an appendix in the manual. It's probably on the CD as well--my CD was stolen :-(

One other difference between the Philips and the Hughes. In at least some cases the Philips has IDE/power cables for two hard drives where the Hughes only has cables for one hard drive. This was true for me (all units purchased in the last three months). I have two of each, one of each...
