What to do to backup my webserver? raid? CDs? HDD?

I'm using Veritas Backup Exec Desktop Pro 4.5. However, I'm actually using the "Task Scheduler" of Win 2K for automation. I would guess you could use just about any backup program you want and use the scheduler feature of your op sys. Using Backup Exec, I define a "job" which specifies what...

My AK31A Bios is dated 9/26/2001. Should I upgrade to EE?

I flashed up to EE and did not have any problems.

epox 8k7a vs epox 8kha vs shuttle AK31A

Have had no problems with the AK31A. AMD XP 1800+, 2 512M Kingston memory. Have not tried OCing. If, later on, you want RAID, you can get an ACARD 6880, as I did. Has been working fine. The price of the m/b and the ACARD is not much more than a RAID m/b.

Opinions: Gigabyte GA-7VTXE or Shuttle AK31a?

My AK31A has been working flawlessly since I got it over a month ago. Have AMD 1800+ and two Kingston 512M memory modules.

IDE RAID & SCSI Card in same box

I have Adaptec SCSI 29140 and ACARD IDE RAID 6880, on Shuttle AK31a m/b. Works fine. Before getting the ACARD, Promise tech support said there would be conflict between Promise and Adaptec, which is why I tried the ACARD (less expensive than Promise anyway, and also support ATA/133).

IDE Raid cards & XPs or 2000

I have IDE RAID using ACARD 6680 card. Very inexpensive (about $80), works fine, and supports ATA/133. I'd like to do SCSI RAID, but card is VERY expensive. The IDE RAID is outpeforming the non-RAID SCSI.

What to do to backup my webserver? raid? CDs? HDD?

I backup my LAN server's data to a large HD on another PC on the LAN. The backup program runs every day, at night, automatically, keeping the last 7 days of backups. Very convient and effective. Large IDE drives are now very cheap. The only "downside" of this approach, vs CD or tape, is that...

    SCSI VS RAID

I have both IBM 10k rpm lvd scsi and Maxtor ATA/133 RAID. Controllers are Adaptec 29160 and ACARD 6880 respectively. Winbench 99 shows that the RAID is outperforming the SCSI by 10-50%, depending on which specific benchmark test.

Promise IDE Raid Controller - Should I?

Instead of the Promise adapter, I installed the ACARD 6880. Much cheaper than the Promise, and supports ATA/133. Have two ATA/133 drives (40GB Maxtor 7200rpm) and this significantly outperforms my IBM LVD SCSI drive. RAID can improve program load times. I also use the RAID for Photoshop...

    Mobo Recommendations

I've had very good results with the Shuttle AK31a. I had wanted a RAID board, but was concerned about RAID on-board BIOS conflicting with my Adaptec 29160 SCSI board BIOS. I've tried adding an ACARD ATA/133 RAID adapter and two ATA/133 drives. No problems - all three BIOS (m/b, SCSI, RAID)...

On-Board RAID or a RAID Card?

I was about to purchase the Abit KR7A until I learned that it was likely to conflict with my SCSI card. Abit has since announced a fix, but before they did I bought a non-RAID m/b (Shuttle AK31A, which works fine). I still wanted RAID, so I gambled on an ACard 6880 - much less expensive than...

What is the best ATA 100/133 IDE RAID CONTOLLER?

It's cheap, easy to install, supports ATA 133, and works just fine - the Acard 6880. Could someone please recommend a good, free, disk benchmark pgm?

Best ~$100 IDE Drives for a RAID Array???

I bought two Maxtor 40 GB 7200rpm ATA/133 drives for $91 each (at computer show). They are connected to ACard 6880, which supports ATA/133 and is less expensive than the big name brands. All works fine.

    RAID Hardware Decision

I was about to purchase the Abit KR7A until I learned that it was likely to conflict with my SCSI card. Abit has since announced a fix, but before they did I bought a non-RAID m/b (Shuttle AK31A, which works fine). I still wanted RAID, so I gambled on an ACard 6880 - much less expensive than...

On-Board RAID vs PCI RAID Controller Cards?

I was about to purchase the Abit KR7A until I learned that it was likely to conflict with my SCSI card. Abit has since announced a fix, but before they did I bought a non-RAID m/b (Shuttle AK31A, which works fine). I still wanted RAID, so I gambled on an ACard 6880 - much less expensive than...
