    Not really, I think their dead/lit pixel policy is up to 3-5 anywhere on the screen, and backlight bleeding would be at there descretion >_>

    MX 1000...

    I dont have the MX1000, but the MX700 (I think). I had the same issue as you but never figured it out. I reinstalled XP, forgot to reinstall the logitech software and it worked fine. Try uninstalling the logitech software.

    Why does Dell seem to be the only notebook maker . .

    FYI there is a Clevo model coming out with a 17" screen, p-m and 6800, I saw it somewhere on notebookforums.com, check the sager section. The price on my Dell 9300 was unbeatable, and I'm quite happy with it.
