My new Inspiron 6000 specs:

Intel® Pentium® M Processor 730 (1.60 GHz/2MB Cache/533MHz FSB)
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
1Yr Ltd Warranty, 1Yr Mail-In Service, and 1Yr Technical Support
15.4 inch WXGA LCD Panel
512MB Shared DDR2 SDRAM 1 Dimm
60GB Hard Drive
24X CD Burner/DVD Combo Drive
Integrated Intel® Media Accelerator 900 Graphics
9-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery (80 WHr)
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915 Internal Wireless (802.11 a/b/g, 54Mbps)

Total w/ shipping: $1,300

I love the laptop but I don't really care for the low end display and I'd like more ram. I've also been reading that people have been buying the Inspiron 6000 fully loaded for less then $800!

So should I send it back so I can make a better selection. The only issue is that I'd have to wait until the money is put back into my account. I believe Dell takes 7-8 business days to fully give the full refund. i'd probably have to wait 2 weeks until I received my new system. I can wait though...

So should I send it back?

You would save some cash if you did.

I just ordered the 6000 a week ago for $943.00 shipped:

1.6GHz
15.4" WSXGA+ upgrade
512MB 1Module upgrade
40GB (upgrade myself later)
8x DVDRW Burner

Used the 40% off. Might be able to configure something better with a coupon.

If you can wait try and get in on the 40% off coupon. I was able to get my Inspiron 9300 for $953 as configured below:

1.6ghz
17" WXGA+
256mb (added a 1GB kingston module from newegg.com for $105)
40GB (the cheapest drive option ended up being a toshiba 5400rpm with 16mb cache)
DVD/CD-RW
256MB Geforce 6800go
6-cell battery, Intel 2200BG wifi, but no bluetooth
XP Home and Wordperfect software only
90-day warranty

You could also try calling them and see if they won't give you the price break on the one you already have. The current coupon I see listed at gotapex is $700 off.
