Old hard drives can be shockingly noisy. They often make this annoying whining noise, which I think is the motor and the drive platters spinning. Anyway, you'd be surprised at how loud a hard drive can be. I think mine is now the loudest thing in my computer. Michael

In theory if you have a DVD player you could use "Guide to Home Theater" on you PC all though the resolution wouldn't be optimal. What you're looking for is Displaymate. Hope that helps. Michael

But I think in most applications the performance difference is only like 10-15%. The price difference is pretty small now too though, so I would probably just go with an Athlon.
