Just installed HW:C on my Win2K machine (SP2, GeForce 256 DDR, Detonator 12.40 official) and under video options... all it gives me is Software. No option for GL or D3D. I remember seeing that GL doesn't work in Win2K with the Homeworld games, but I should at least be able to get D3D...

I'd consider putting something like FreeBSD on the extra partition if you can. Linux might be an acceptable alternative, but I'd definitely consider something in the UNIX range just for the experience. If you get some UNIX experience, you'll have something that'll compliment your Win2000...

I am booting off an IDE drive, on my ATA-100 controller. And I can believe the Adaptec cards are decent, for that kind of money, but sheesh... I'm supposed to be buying a new car here. I think upgrades are going to be sidelined for a bit. :)

Yeah, I agree that they're good for UW and down, but it's just being a pain in my rear right now. So, do you like the Tekram cards? I swear, with the way things are going, it's enough to made a guy go IDE again.
