the jumpers are correct for sure. i mentioned that it does work together sometimes but rarely. i have a nForce3 250GB board that should let me use Ultra DMA 6 - Ultra133 but this secondary channel is locked to only Ultra DMA 2 - Ultra33. i think my onboard IDE controller is bad.

funboy42s first post a while ago got me switched to these and ill never use any other. might have to pick up another since these are starting to wear out.
My headphones went out so i found the splice and want to solder it. The wires are tiny twisted strands that has color coating that solder wont stick to. Is there a easy way to remove the coating? i usually use sand paper but these wires just get torn apart before getting most of the coating off.

Well, i made an image of the drive before i started anything. Ill have to look up more about the MFT. I know its there since windows tries to fix it and i saw it delete tons of entries that were corrupt in auto chkdsk B4 windows starts.
UPDATE: I extracted the MFT data from the image and now...
My HD failed and i lost about 10% of the files after recovery. Is there a list of files in a HD stored somewhere? Indexing service or something perhapse, since if i view the HD properties it still shows the full amount of space that was originally there.
