EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

@Davegod: The "memory frequency" is actually a divider, mem frequency to CPU Frequency (roughly speaking), so "200MHz" is 1:1, "166MHz" is 5:6, etc. There's a little bit of a lookup table in the "Quicky and Dirty A64 clocking guide" thread (link). Basically, if you set your CPU frequency to...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

Yeah, I've been using the latest BIOS, dated 4/18/06, and I haven't had any USB2 issues.

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

I've got the NB47J and it's currently overclocked at 250x10, no worries. It's just a little warm to the touch, but I haven't had any crashes because of it. If you've got good airflow in that area, I wouldn't be too concerned about it, but that's just me.

wb182: I believe that if you install the nVidia SATA/IDE drivers, you'll get that "safely remove hardware" icon. I don't know if you can get rid of it (short of uninstalling the nVidia IDE drivers), but you could always use XP's "hide inactive icons" feature so that you never see it. That's...

^_^ one more step towards cool/quiet system

^ nb47J...I have one in my system, and it's great :)

    MS Paint and MS calculator

Paint is nice for quick and dirty edits when I don't want/need to wait for a fuller-featured editor to start up (and of course, I'm sure people could point out better picture editors that start up quickly). Technically, I guess they did kinda upgrade Paint for XP by adding jpg support, no? Or...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

sixth: I've got a zalman nb47j on my chipset. It feels hot to the touch and doesn't feel very secure, but it works fine (haven't had any crashes which I can trace to chipset overheating). You might have issues if you've got a big video card cooler, since the zalman is pretty tall, but then I...

You think you have the quietest PC?

    - Antec Sonata II with duct removed, stock power supply (antec smartpower 2.0 450watt) - XP-90 with a medium-speed 92mm Panaflo...using mobo's built-in speed control to turn it down to about 50% speed (according to SpeedFan). That's pretty much silent. - stock antec 120mm tri-speed fan set on...

I also <3 speedfan, and control of the CPU fan speed works fine, as does temperature reporting. For me, Speed02 in SpeedFan controls the CPU fan and the others don't do anything (that I can observe).

    Trouble Overclocking with Epox EP-9NPA3ULTRA

You know, I have 2x512MB Corsair Value Select on an Epox 9npa+Ultra, and I could never boot using the 133 divider. 100, 166, 200...all the others work fine (as long as the resulting memory speed is under around 220MHz). Not sure why that is, but for my overclock, it didn't really make a big...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

I haven't done thorough testing (as in heavy copying to my external drives), but I will say that all my USB devices are now plugged in to the motherboard ports, USB BIOS settings at default (with USB2.0 enabled), and my computer has been on since my last post (so about 4 days now), downloading...

EPoX "EP-9NPA+Ultra" NVIDIA nForce4 ULTRA Chipset Motherboard

Thanks for sharing the beta BIOS. I e-mailed them about two weeks ago and they sent me a beta BIOS dated 1/23, but I've been too busy to really test it out. I'll test out this new one (I guess the date is 2/09?) over the weekend.

Is having your case open just as as effective as fans?

I did some reading and you and duragezic are correct and I am wrong. I guess I didn't really retain as much knowledge from my acoustics class in college as I thought I did :)

    Voltages on x2 3800

see sig for mine. It's not stable at any higher speeds at that voltage, and I really haven't tried upping the voltage.

AMD 3800+ x2 Question on Stepping?????

E4 = Manchester core 2x512kb L2 cache E6 = Toledo core 2x1024kb L2 cache with half the cache disabled, plus an updated memory controller (so I've read) From what I remember reading, both overclock about the same (mine's an E4, for reference). edit: typo
