    Win2k, CUBX, HDD, oh my.

the ASUS CUBX boards have this nifty feature that forces you to plug your HDD into a UDMA 33 channel in order to install new operating systems and then after doing so you just switch the HDD over to the UDMA 66 channel for UDMA 66 performance. this was fine and dandy when win98 was my OS but now...

    AMD 1333MHz AXIA@2174MHz

<< It's an obvious fabrication, but it tells volumes about the depth of understanding and true level of knowledge by many participants on this very board. Many of you sem to think that cooling can let CPUs ignore laws of physics. Cooling is simply a NESCESITY for stable operation. >> As a...

My heatsink/fan is too LOUD, what should I do???

I've a 32 fan on my heatsink for my OCed PIII 700 which likes to run extremely hot, waaaay hotter than any OCed AMD chip I've dealt with. The noise is definately starting to wear me down but I do not want to run the risk of overheating the CPU. So I've been reluctant to do anything about it. I'm...

I need a good program to split up incredibly large wav files

I have a couple of 700+meg wav files that I need to split up into several smaller wav files so that when I create an audio CD there will be track numbers to fast forward/skip to rather than having one long track to fast forward through and without having any spaces/blips/pauses between tracks...

    1.27g crashes Q3

Ever since installing the new 1.27 point release while playing Q3 my computer now crashes waaaayyy too often for my tastes. Not only is it my computer that crashes because of it but it happens to every single person that I know that plays Quake 3. What is going on here?

Help trying to setup MIDI keyboard for recording

Well, I know VERY litle about midi. The only things I can tell you is that to make sure the cable is plugged into the 'midi out' of the keyboard and that the keyboard is set up to send midi commands 'out' or 'both' rather than internal. HTH at least a little bit.

    PIII 700

I've bought two PIII 700E cBO chips in a row that would not OC to 933Mhz. The first one would boot to windows but would crash after 10 minutes of playing Quake III. The second wouldn't even POST.

SB Live! Plat. 5.1 include cables for 5.1 analog out?

The panel of the SBLive seems to have a slight grey hue to it so it doesn't match the color of my beige SX830. My plextor matches the case perfectly. The SBLive does not come with the audio out cables that you will need.

Sony E400 and G400, what is the difference?

The g400 supports a higher refresh rate. That's about it. I dont remember how much higher but you can find that out on your own by doing a little research. I really like my g400, though.

    Broadband question.Need advice,please!

It all depends on the area and how good your phone lines are. Theoretically DSL is better for gameing because the DSL uses a constant data stream where as Cable sends data through with burst-like transmission using time slicing because it is a shared network. but if your copper lines aren't up...

    SBLive install = no CDRW?

The CDRW is the only device on the controller. I have the CDRW attached to a UDMA/33 while my HD is on a UDMA/66. I moved it to a new slot with no luck but now that I think about it the slot that I moved it to shares IRQs with the slot that I just moved it from. I'll try moving it again. The...

    SBLive install = no CDRW?

I recently installed a new SoundBlaster Platinum and for some reason that has completely baffled me, doing a complete install causes Winblows to not recognize my Plextor CDRW at all. Nothin, nada. BIOS sees it, but that's it. This happens after the restart after installing the drivers for the...

SB Platinum install = no CDROM!?!?

I recently installed a new SoundBlaster Platinum and for some reason that has completely eluded me doing a complete install causes Windoze to not recognize my Plextor CDRW at all. Nothin, nada. BIOS sees it, but that's it. This happens after the restart after instaling the drivers for the card...
