I recently upgraded a rig and the results were not exactly what I expected. After having swithed to an 1800XP and 256MB of DDR RAM, the systems 3Dmark score only jumped by a measly 100 points. Can somebody explain this to me? I know 3Dmark is more dependent on the video card than anything else...

It sounds like you might have scorched the ram on your rig. That is what will happen if you use generic ram and boost the fsb beyond the ram settings. Like all others I would recommend to run the system with some quality pc100 or 133 ram and see where that takes you.
