Would you take i7-920 or i7-870?

@cusidealbelincoln, thanks! I think I am leaning towards the 870 at this point just because of the cheaper board. Hopefully i will be able to upgrade again in 12-18 months. I think 4 ram slot should be enough. 16GB should be plenty for my home use. Yep, no time for gaming nowadays. the most...

you'll need a registry hack in order to do this. I have done this before with xp machines in common area in our office so that it auto logins automatically without prompting for password. Works like a charm. 1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK. In Windows Vista...

Would you take i7-920 or i7-870?

@Morg, the 1156 boards are definitely cheaper compared to the 1366. I am seeing a saving of around $40-50 for the board that I like. Yes it sux that Intel hates us and comes up with so much socket types with short lifespan. I love LGA775-like lifespan :D yeah I guess a little overclocking...

most likely bad heatsink compound placement (too much), or bad CPU fan placement. you have to make sure the heatsink touches the CPU in a perfect manner.

Would you take i7-920 or i7-870?

So, I can get either i7-920 (1366) or i7-870 (1156) from work. I already have the DDR3 sticks and will be putting either 8 or 12GB of ram in the computer. Already have video card and Hard Drive However, I will need to purchase the motherboard for either CPU in order to complete the Rig...

ASUS Eee PC 901 8.9-Inch Netbook, $279 (AR) Shipped

I agree. This is why I went for MSI wind vs Dell Mini. I know I will be kicking myself in the butt when I am out of disk if I opt for 16GB SSD.

Nah I am pretty sure this computer did not booted. All my apps, my remote desktop connections, etc are still in tact. Orthos itself did not shutdown, but it became "IDLE" instead of "GO".
