It seems pretty hot considering it comes with Windows XP, 6 cell battery, and Wireless-N.

Any opinions?

Looks good to me.

Also the white is $20 less then the black.

**** Just noticed on the white model *****

"Ships from and sold by ANTOnline."

& doesn't have the rebate link on the page, so the rebate may or may not work.

There is a white model from Amazon for $367, but comes with Linux not XP

$349.99 with free shipping for the white one at ZipZoomFly.

Edit Here's the black one at the same price plus free shipping. That makes it $249.99 after rebate.

Edit #2:roll: OK, these do not have XP pre-loaded (something which is not necessarily a minus with a Netbook) but they have 20GB hard drives vs. 12 GB in the OP. Here's the same configuration at Amazon for $279.99

I tried though not the same exact model but an Acer 8.9 display model. My complaint is that not so much of typing but using the touch pad.
That's why i decided to skip the 8.9's and went for the Asus eeepc 1000HA which seemingly has almost a full keyboard size and a better touch pad once you can figure out all of its features.

I don't know, you can get the asus 1000HE (newest model for the next week) for 375 no rebates. it's so vastly improved that it probably warrants the 100 premium.

Hmmm...Any idea to find how that would work?

Hell, how about $339.99 with no rebate?

And after reading the reviews, I have to believe that the extra battery life, larger keyboard and larger screen makes this a much better choice for $60.00 more and no rebate. The only drawback is the weight of the thing. At 3.2 lbs, the thing weighs more than my ThinkPad X300!

Of course, I only get about 2 hours and ten minutes of battery life on my X300.

One of the most important considerations about shopping for a netbook, unless you're students or office workers alike, a 3 cell is more than you can get by as long as you can find an ac outlet nearby.
Otherwise, a 6 cell battery is a must for most road warriors like myself, even finding a free ac outlet at the a/p terminal is not that easy.

I got the 10" eee pc 1000 with Linux about a month ago for around $370-379 ish from Amazon, I love it. The only bad thing is you have to pull teeth to figure out how to upgrade it (i.e. what interface does the SSD use ... still not sure ... PCI-express?, max memory (only has one slot and seems the chipset is limited to 2GB is what I gathered)

This is of course not a 1000HE model...still not a bad price for the 1000HA model.

I had the HE model on order from JandR for a while but fortunately the delayed delivery date
was so long I was able to cancel it after realizing it didn't have the newer graphics chip on it
(and another couple hours over my 1000HD wasn't really worth spending money on at the
time). So I'll probably be waiting for a new summer purchase on their next model.

Using Live Cash Back you can get the 1000HE from JR.com for $349. They have a huge back order list right now though. I had one on preorder since the middle of February, and ended up canceling because estimated delivery times were mid/end of March. Bought one from the Egg (using Live Cash Back to get $10.50 back) for about $380 shipped. It'll be here in a few days.

I agree. This is why I went for MSI wind vs Dell Mini. I know I will be kicking myself in the butt when I am out of disk if I opt for 16GB SSD.

MF... :|

Is the :| because you bought it at the $379-rebate price? Or did I screw up the link or the logic?

If the former, see if you can get a price adjustment?

Yup, I jumped the first time around. Obviously, the benefit is that I had a netbook for two more weeks than if I'd ordered it now...

[edit] But spending six weeks or more hoping that a rebate comes does suck. Also, don't forget to use live.com...I got $18.50 cashback for this baby.

If the former, see if you can get a price adjustment?

I am intrigued. Explain.

I am intrigued. Explain.

E-mail their customer service to see if they will match their new price. I forget if they have a direct link on their site or not for that, as it's been almost 2 years, but I know I've done this before for items that dropped in price a week after I ordered them and they have obliged. It could take a while to find it (I had no luck looking just now, perhaps someone who has tried more recently can help you find it). Just hope you don't get a CSR who decides to factor in the MIR to the original price and not give an adjustment.

Obviously, you have more leverage if you are still within the return window. I got a PM to the amazon price for the same netbook I ordered from another vendor last week. I think it helped that the item was still in transit, and so I could have been a real d*ckwad and refused delivery (although I left that unstated in my PM request, but I think they realized it was possible; they aren't idiots).

Just don't dally too long because you know how Amazon likes to change their prices around.

edit 2: Ah. Well I have no experience or secondhand accounts of getting tigerdirect to do price adjustments. Can't hurt to try. Good luck
