Um crazychicken, you can do what you're describing with a single sound card. Just hook the sound card output to the line in on the same card and presto you have your recording. I think you can do this as long as you have a full duplex sound card which is the standard now anyways.
Move your PCI slots around. Usually the first and second PCI slot share the same IRQ so if you have the video card on PCI don't put any cards in PCI 2. This should help with the IRQ sharing. As for your network are you sure you have your IP addresses and workgroup or domain name set up correctly.
If you want to keep your com ports functional, I believe you can set jumpers on the modem and set it to run on com 3, but the method suggested works fine if you don't use your serial port for anything else.
The best thing would be to borrow an external burner from a friend and burn your CD. Another sneaky not so ethical way would be to go buy an external burner and burn your cd and then return it saying you don't like it. Obviously, you'll probably want to go the first route if you can find...
Well with problem one you can reinsert your Win2k installation disk and choose the option to repair Win2k installation and hopefully you won't have to clobber your win2k partition and reinstall. For problem 2 and 3 what operating system is causing those problems (i can only assume it's win2k)...
