Okay I already have Win Me installed on my computer. I want to install Win 2K as a dual boot system. My first problem is, that I don't have the install CD. I do own the OS, but my CD was damaged while trying to make a backup copy. Although I do have a copy of the entire disk on my hard drive, unfortunatly I no longer have a burner. I have already started the install, and it copied some info, then said it need to restart, when it did that I got a screen asking to boot into either Win ME or Win 2K setup. I boot to the setup and it does some more stuff, then says it needs to restart again, after the second restart I get the same boot options, but this time if I choose the Win 2K setup option, it does the same thing it did in the prior step. What can I do to continue the install?

The best thing would be to borrow an external burner from a friend and burn your CD. Another sneaky not so ethical way would be to go buy an external burner and burn your cd and then return it saying you don't like it. Obviously, you'll probably want to go the first route if you can find anyone you know who has an external burner. I think you can also install accross a network, but I've never tried this before, so if you have another computer you can try installing over a network. I think win2k will only install by cd or over network, probably due to MS wanting to prevent piracy. Anyhoo, tell me how it goes and anyone else feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on any of my points.

FYI: Win2k will install just fine from your hard drive, I've never installed it any other way (still using the Promise Fasttrak66 workaround.......lol)
