GM's Performance Division planning high-performance future for automaker

Lest anyone be confused, I am not knocking Nissan's engine, just pointing out that torque is what accelerates a vehicle and the more you have at lower rpms the better. American engine manufacturers in the past have not needed to go the small displacement high rpm route to get Hp. That, however...

GM's Performance Division planning high-performance future for automaker

We're not talking pimped out turbocharged bullcrap that most people don't do to their FAMILY sedans <http://forums.anandtech.com/i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif> There's a reason why people buy oodles of Camrys and Accords over Grand Prix's and Impalas. And I wouldn't call the 240 HP...

GM's Performance Division planning high-performance future for automaker

Obviously you guys have never had the opportunity to experience a 3.8 liter GN running in the high 12s with very few inexpensive mods. Turbocharged...yes, but making more than the 240 hp you find in the detuned 3800 version available today. I always find it interesting that people think the...

why has my gas mileage has gone WAY down after mounting 17" rims (with pics)

You can figure out the difference in tire diameter between the two tire/rim combos using the following formula; total diameter in inches = wheel diameter in inches + (tire width in milimeters X aspect ratio/25.4)x2 so for a 245-40ZR17 the diameter = 17 + (245x.4/25.4)x2 = 24.716 inches...

    Mixing ata-33 and ata-100 drives

If you run them on the same cable, they will run at ATA33 (the slowest drive). If you run them on separate channels (one on primary, the other on secondary) then the ATA100 will run at its proper speed.

What CPU is this? No stepping #?

If you run the Intel program it will tell you the expected CPU operating frequency and corresponding bus speed. This will tell you what you should be operating you CPU at. Of course this will only work if you have the CPU installed and running. If you are unsure, you can always install and run...

What CPU is this? No stepping #?

According to Intel, all 800's are cB0 stepping. You can download Intels CPU frequency and ID program at www.intel.com. It should show your CPU as a 0683 CPUID#. Also if it's an SL463/3Y3 it is to be used on a 100 mhz bus and if it's an SL464/3Y2 it is to be used on a 133 mhz bus.
