WinFS seems to be an interesting structure indeed. I've searched over to find more info on it and came upon thsi source http://www.ntfs.com/ If you are also interested in this filesystem you can give it a look.

I've also got into a simmilar situation. I've used Boot Disk that contained a Partition Recovery utility. That did the trick and returned the erased partition back to me. I suppose if you wish, you can also try that utility. http://www.ntfs.com/boot-disk.htm

There is also another possibility, to connect card to PC so it is recognized as a drive, and use some data recovery tool there. That worked for me before, I used Undelete utility, and it was able to restore pics. http://www.active-undelete.com/
