Ok i cant see anything on the proc itself to lead me to comclude that it is the proc so how do i make sure that there is nothing shorting the mobo out?

ok i recently got a new system Specs and i am trying to set up a RAID 0 array but whenever i fdisk the array i only ever get a max of 13 gigs out of the 2 40 gig drives that i have. whats wrong? they are on separate IDE cables and are both set to master drive. what am I doing wrong?
