Did you get any beeps when you booted up? If it beeps at you the motherboard is alive but there are other problems. Try just booting off CPU,memory, and videro card. No beeps= dead motherboard most likely.

mobo making contact with the case? (i assume you took the motherboard out, you have to to install the 8045).

in my experience, either you flipped some DIP switches, or something is shorting it out, a cat hair did it for me once :frown:

try to check the power supply too. one time, i booted up, all the fans spun and everything, but there wasn't enough power going through the atx mobo header and i needed a new psu.

I agree with the guys here Beano. You most likely have your mobo shorting out on your case somewhere.

That will keep it from beeping.

Try that first.

Good luck :)

easiest way to do it is take the mobo out and place it on one of those cushy foam pads that they are often packed with.

never put it on a hard surface, must be soft

connect power supply, vid, ram, cpu. if that doesnt work then it's not the case shorting it.

Ok i cant see anything on the proc itself to lead me to comclude that it is the proc so how do i make sure that there is nothing shorting the mobo out?

This happened to my friend, he took his CPU out of his old mobo to put it into his new KR7A-RAID, got everything hooked up, and turned it on, fans, lights and everything, but no video. He cracked his core, what a n00b :D

get your static bags out, remove your mobo from the case and put it on there and try it out.
It'll probably require you to remove the psu from the case as well.

Boy thats tough. Assuming you only have the vid card in, do you have a spare vid card to try?

After that, grab a mobo from a local outlet and try that next. If it works, send the old one in to get a warrenty refund.

It really sound like the Video Card is not seated properly. I have this problem periodically. Try pluggin in the video card, without screwing it in, and without the monitor plugged into it. If you hear a beep, screw the vid card in gently, and attach the monitor cable.

Well I had a similar problem with my MSI KT266a board. It's unlikely that you shorted anything since all you did was reset the h/s. With mine the problem was merely a weird CPU thing...I took the CPU out and re-seated it a few times and it came back on. This would happen almost every time I either took the CPU out or made a multiplier change in the BIOS. It's possible, I guess, that you might have "static" fried something...were you wearing an ESD strap while changing things?
