HD Radio Receiver Built-In

I'm sold. Free OTA CD-quality music, sports, comedy and more from my local stations. iPods don't even have FM radio, let alone HD radio.

Wow. Zune audio quality was already ahead of Apple, wonder if this will be even better? Yay for a really nice OLED as well.

I have used a few Ipods, nano, shuffle, etc, and I intend to never use one of the damned things again.

Are you fucking high, better than ipod / iphone...not in this lifetime skippy,my 120gb sounded like it was buried in dirt and gods forbid the dumbfucks put a EQ on it ....

Zune is a wannabe joke and always will be ..

How so? iPhones are announced at WWDC... iPods are normally announced in the Fall.

What ever goes into the iPhone will eventually make its way to the Touch. It's conceivable the new Touch will ship before the Zune HD.

Announcing the new iPod Classic; it's like the old iPod Classic, but .03mm thinner and with 20GB more space.

Announcing the new iPod Nano; it's like the old iPod Nano, but we changed the shape slightly and added some colors.

Announcing the new iPod Shuffle; it's like the old iPod Shuffle, but we removed more buttons and added robo calls...I mean VoiceOver.

Yeah because the iPhone/iTouch were just incremental upgrades to the iPod line, and the Zune HD is *not* just a me too clone of the Touch with a bunch of shit nobody wants (HD radio, 720p out).

I guess everyone should just stop trying then... I mean, look at GM. Other companies should have just stopped building cars long ago!

When the Xbox launched in November 2001, people said the same thing about their attempt to dig into Sony's stranglehold on the home video game console market. 9 years later, the X360 has a 30 million unit install base and a solid lead over the PS3.

Time and money are two things Microsoft has a lot of.

And less than half the market share of the Wii.

I see the target demographic of Zune to be Xbox fanboys and anti-Apple sorts. The rest of the regular world buy iPods (thank goodness we outnumber the Xbots a thousand-to-one).

Wow, you sounds like a foaming at the mouth anti-Microsoft fanboy -- sheesh.

Who cares if the Xbox 360 has half the install base of the Wii? They don't cater to the same gaming titles. I'd like to see you try to play something like MGS or Gears of War on the Wii.

I personally have a Wii and a PS3 because neither can wholly satisfy the broad spectrum of games available on the market.

Stop stooping to the "There can only be one" philosophy, be it with Apple vs Microsoft or Microsoft vs Nintendo/Sony -- it's absolutely STUPID an CHILDISH.

That's all I have to say about that -- the rest of you, just ignore this troll.

This.

And, you don't have to be anti-[insert company here] to just not like their products. I'm not anti-Apple for anything, other than the idiotic pricetags, but I just don't care for a single product Apple offers. Oh sure, it's a little fresh compared to other things, and oh everything is white. Hmm cool. The design is so minimal it's worse than minimalism, and I can't stand the UI.
Zune, while the Zune 30gb wasn't going to win any beauty pageants, had an excellent UI (and that got improved upon too), and while the software at first was garbage, they made it a strong package over time. But the best part: audio quality. The Zune 80/120, I'd argue soundly defeats any HDD player from Apple. Now, the iTouch might be a nice product, I love the thinness because it almost disappears in your pocket, and the Touch UI is relatively solid... well, that's it. Storage is a major deal breaker (and price along with storage), and that is the one thing I worry about the ZuneHD. I'm sold at this point, but the details on price/storage are going to decide whether I eventually upgrade. I'd love to have a multi-touch OLED screen, 720p video out HDMI through dock, wifi with browser, and HD Radio. But if it's on the same level of price gauging as the iTouch, hell no, especially if storage is maxed at 32gb, or a 64gb version retails for $500. One problem I hate about flash, it just contributes to high prices.

What don't you like about the UI? Just curious. What does the Zune do differently?

I do wish everyone wasn't so crazy about everything being so small and thin. A Zune HD with a 120+ GB hard drive would be a good replacement for my 30 GB Creative Zen Vision W.

I do think Chris is right that anti-Apple sentiment is a factor for some people. I mean, it's no secret that a lot of people really hate Apple.

That's pretty nice.

I never really considered getting an iTouch. Apple anything is just too overpriced for what it is. I kept looking at the Cowon S9 (now with 32gb! 😀). I wonder how well this will compare to it.

Hmmm...looks cool...I hope the price point is good....but Apple still has the edge b/c of the Apps store and the gui looks fine for a touch pad (looks like current gui), but it does not look good for a touch screen. Maybe we just need to see more pics.

Feature wise....man...has too much for me. Sounds cool, but why would I want half that stuff? I guess I am not tech enough.

HD radio? hmm havent really heard much about that.

the new zune looks nice. i been wanting to get something better then my 8 gig sensa

Looks great, but I have no interest in a touchscreen device. Guess I'll have to stick with my Zune 80GB, which I love. I have a feeling the capacities in the HD will not be high enough for what I need either.

Not sure what I'll do when it inevitably dies, since everything seems to be headed to touchscreen. 🙁

I used to have an ipod, switched over to zune and aint lookin back (even though I hate the zune software).

Do you not listen to the radio much? Seems like the HD radio ads have been all over the radio for the last couple of years. It's sort of terrestrial radio's response to satellite radio (which they always mention in the ads). The station I listen to is always talking about their second channel that you can listen to on HD radio. Like the analog-digital TV switch, HD radio allows you to fit more stations into the same bandwidth.
