Teamviewer uses port 80. I'm mobile, and have only been to one place so far that blocks teamviewer, but not ssh+rdp.

Really? I thought I've tried everything to remote home. I even configured VNC to use port 80 but it didn't work.

I think that my work place blocks IP address from COX and Qwest, our two local internet providers. I've tried even just pinging my home IP address from work, and no go.

I haven't been everywhere of course, but that's just my exp. Do you have ping enabled on your home router? Maybe setup something like dyndns or no-ip? I use no-ip, tomato-USB firmware runs the updater by itself.
