I wish. Best I can get here in Mason, MI is my 512/128 Cable from Millennium. I HATE it! I'm trying to find DSL that's better.

Awesome deal Phocas, DEFINATELY a good price in the cincy area, ... Let us know how the new speed is. Not sure if it would be worth it to bump it up or not... grrr...

Hmmm...the UL speed is great, but I can't imagine switching from my 2.0Mbps down / 384up time warner roadrunner for $36.95 a month. I guess I just don't do that much uploading. I also live in Cinci, RR is usually $44.95, but i get the Univ of Cinci discount...plus I share with the neighbors.. :)

You would care if your RR sucked in your area to the point its tough to play video games cause your neighbors are dling pr0n 24x7. I like/want high upload speeds though, and tomorrow after i get off work i will do the before and after results..... But for $20 more getting double my speed i couldnt say no.

Hi Matt,
I tried the Hyperspeed out a month or so ago..The uploads were faster than my RR..but my dl's were still quite a bit higher than the Hyperspeed.
For 15.00 more I could have gotten it,but don't really do alot of uploading..It would have prolly helped my ftp site out some..but I'm not the one uploading..the client is :D

Phocas,

I jumped on this the first day I could....I live in Mt Washington/Anderson area. I will say that it can be really sweet on websites, but I have noticed no appreciable speed gains while downloading binaries from usenet (cd images-.bin files). All in all, if you can comfortably afford it.....go for it. I think I will keep it until after Christmas and then cancel. Regular Zoomtown is good enough...I want to upgrade to Digital Cable!!!

You do not have to have fusenet....I have OneNet/USNet/NuVox (or whoever the hell they are now!!!).

Also I have checked my speed @ dslreports.com and get widely varying results. My best results have been 550/950 kbps...down/up. This is possibly because I have never isolated the line entirely during the test, there are always other people using the connection or apps running during the testing. I have 5 pcs behind the router.

Im hopping on this cause i have 320 gigs now (movies!) and hope to get a server for my friends on our days off.

lol I'm on RR and I get faster speeds than that :p Guess I'm just lucky, zoomtown really stinks near UC, XU, and several other areas... If you live in Hyde Park not only do you have the money for this, but you will get full speed on zoomtown. .. just a little warning for those in cincinnati considering zoomtown... they have weak lines, not enough main stations, and very friendly, but usually unhelpful tech support.

well TightHardware,

Zoomtown gave me one very important thing that RR will not........the ability to keep the same email addres that I have had for 10+ years now. It is worth it to me to not have to change my addy everytime something new comes down the pipeline. I have been with the same ISP for 10+ and am still with them (though they have gone through a lot of ownership changes recently).

I have all the pr0n I can handle at this speed....why would I need anymore?

As far as Zoomtown support......you are absolutely correct, they are very friendly and they always blame the ISP for everything even if it is a Zoomtown problem :)!

I did the Charter Membership thing when ZT first out. Tried RR a couple years ago or so and there were just too many ppl using it in my area (Oakley), so I stuck with ZT. I'm only paying $30 and no ISP fees to worry about.

If you live in the suburbs RR is definitely better. Got a friend who lives near Milford and gets around 2Mb down.

I live in Milford and the RR sucks. It was better where i lived in Florida last year. I love zoomtown for my static ip as well :D. Knock on wood i have only had a dsl outtage for 3 hours for over a year straight.

chrisjor,

As a former employee of your ISP, I'd like to thank you for your past support.... And inform you that it seems that a good deal of the former One.net technical support has now moved over Zoomtown technical support.

Um.. thats all I have to say...

r33ll1fe,

Thanks for the kind words....I have had One.net since it was located in the basement of the computer store on Northland Boulevard (can't remember the name but I believe it had ONE in it, Micro one or 1st Micro maybe?). I was in there buying a Mobo (486sx33..yikes) and met a woman who told me she was the owner and that her and her husband were selling the ISP and it would open in Evendale on Reading Rd. I signed up and have been a customer ever since. My email address is chris@one.net, can't get any simpler or better than that.....I would be heartbroke if I ever had to give that address up!!!! I guess I may have just invited more spam by posting it here, but oh well, I already receive 300+ emails a day..250 or more being spam!!!! That is the downside of keeping an address for a long time.

Don't be a stranger, I keep my PM on. :) It is good to know that there are this many Cincy folk here...we should make a list and keep in touch fo hot deals etc.

Go Bearcats.....boo Muskies!!!!:D

Hey guys, while we are on the topic...I just got home and there is a letter from Zoomtown which states that they will be upgrading our service so that we never have to log in!!!! It says you will have to leave your computer turned off over several different evenings while the system is upgraded. Says to check Zoomtown.com for details about your scheduled upgrade dates.

Question for my fellow Zoomtowners......

What speed are you currently getting when downloading from newsgroups and how many threads are you able to download at once? Looking to compares my speeds with yours. How much of a difference did you see when you went from regular Zoomtown to this upgrade? I've been meaning to upgrade while it's discounted but never got around to it yet.

Yea they said you will be getting a letter in the mail informing you what night to unplug everything when they do the upgrades in your area. From then on it'll be a constant connection instead of this ppoe or whatever BS with loggin in and stuff. I'm scheduled for early Feb. here in northern KY.

ON ON U OF K!!!!!!!!!!!!!
