It's going to be no software firewall and all computers connected to it. That's even better. 🙂

We're back to this free concept thing again. 😉
unless you have a firewall that you want to give me. 😀

Unless you have a PPPoE ADSL and Alcatel SpeedTouch USB modem.

Yes i know there are drivers out there for it, but i have never been successful on getting this thing working on anything else besides a windows platform.:disgust:

Install a software firewall on all the systems. Thats my paranoid advice.

You guys are so mean 🙁
You don't yub me 🙁
*sniff sniff*

You'd better install TINY PERSONAL FIREWALL or I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down!

Blowing is probably the way to get a guy to "yub" you... But uhh Im not into that.

TPF is pretty nice. For the week or two I used Win2k I used it.

EDIT: I got an error when I submitted this since it was moved. Im surprise it posted fine.

I must be the exception to the rule. I use 4 computers here at home running off of a Linksys cable/dsl router and have ZA freeware running on each with NO problems for the entire time I have had them.

P.S. And I use WinME on all machines ...and again....problemless now for 1 and a half years.
~wnied~

4 PC's w/ WinME? Now THAT'S scary~!

I've got ZA that doesn't work with ICS atm ,what's your phone number?😉

Just found this

Tiny Personal Firewall will not function properly if it is installed on a computer using WinRoute or Microsoft Internet Connection Sharing.

Great!

,thats that option out the window!🙁

Btw I had no problems with ZA free until I tried to use ICS ,can't get ZA to allow the client through🙁

I originally tried TPF (Kerio), and liked it quite a bit, easy to configure and so on...

but then I found a problem... it would stop uploads after a certain point (around 100K, but it varied). This somewhat annoyed me since I was doing Genome@home at the time, and I had to manually upload my completed work (disable Kerio, upload, enable Kerio), as well as for any ftp-ing.

I asked for help but nobody seemed to have had that problem... I tried uninstalling, reinstalling and a lot of other things but nothing worked.

I'm using ZA Pro today and it's alright, though if it weren't for my problems uploading I would have stayed with Kerio, no questions asked! Maybe I'll try it again (my problems may mysteriously have gone away just as I am the only one mysteriously afflicted be them).

Damn... and I was hoping to switch! I have my main computer on DSL, and a laptop connected through 802.11b and ICS. I think I'll end up setting up my parents to use TPF though... they have ZA Pro and it has been a headache for them.

🙂

Got ZA 'free' to workwith ICS ,I just had to drop the internet security to medium & it allowed the other PC through..........though I'm not keen on the lower security

man ZoneAlarm sucks because you have to use it every day? wonder how many other softwares out there suck for you....

if you're going to badmouth an app (esp a free one), give REASONS why you don't like it. don't just say "i use it all the time and it's messed up". ZoneAlarm has worked flawlessly for me in the past, and unlike some firewalls will even monitor outgoing traffic.

to answer the original poster, you should only need it installed on your server. i would, however, recommend installing antivirus on all PC's.
