Yea, you are s c r e w e d until you know your way around the map. Some maps (like the one with the church and gas station) you are screwed no matter what. Then there is the lack of good hold up locations for the humans and movable objects to form barricades. That said it is fun, and it gets your heart pounding when your group gets over run, you panic (there's even a panic button) and run for your life.

That CS:S zombie mod hosted by a university (A something) was the best one I've played but it no longer exists as far as I'm aware. I would view this as something to tie you over until Left for Dead comes out and then we should see something awesome.

And remember, it's FREE. Don't expect every aspect to be pure awesomeness.

I played it for like half an hour. The highlight of the experience was falling in a hole and someone on voice-chat, speaking in a horribly racist Chinese accent comes up to me saying "hi, you wonna be my frien" and guides me out of it. After we got out, he goes "congraturations, you ha' learn how to jump".

Guess you should have wasted all that hard earned cash on such a crappy game eh?

Hm, I was wondering what this was after I installed Steam in preparation for L4D. I guess I'll check it out.

It's enjoyable, but the odds are REALLY stacked against humans. Humans usually start with 17 players, zombies with 3. Each time one of the humans dies they join the zombies, so unless all 17 players have a brain on their shoulders, you'll lose. Unfortunately, it's hard to find 17 people with a brain on the internet, so humans lose the vast majority of games.

No, I think it's commendable to have a game offered for free. And good for the community. But the one time I tried to play this - it was not even worth the time or download IMO. But judging by the views here (that are actually productive incidentally) I'll have to give it another shot.

I tried it and it was much, much to slow. Perhaps in a private game where people use VC and actually work together it could be fun. On the five or six pubs I played on it was an utter disaster with the humans never winning and each person doing their own thing.

I like the game a whole lot. The three servers I play on have several veterans that know the game well and can lead the survivors. I'll admit it wasn't too fun at first, but overall the game pretty addicting.

One unusual thing though, I seem to be getting WAY too many CTD's with this damn game. On average at least 2 per hour. I've never had so many CTD's from any other game ever. Anyone else experiencing something similar? They always always happen at the end of the round as well, so by the time I'm back in the game I'm freaking zombie AGAIN.

It seems like they changed the panic button from the last time i played. When you hit your panic button now the guy just screams but it used to make you drop all your weapons before?

This game's a hoot. The few nice players who want to help newbs make it worth the somewhat slower pace. Remember to map your keys to your liking, and to avoid asking questions like how to drop ammo. It takes a while to become vaguely familiar with the map layout so be patient. Opponents can see your flashlight beams and glowing eyes with zombie vision. Zombies can hear human voice chat, humans cannot hear zombies VC. Many guides at the official forums.

@M0oG0oGaiPan, panic button drops everything but the weapon in your hand. Any ammo in the current weapon is also dropped. If all you have is a melee weapon, you won't drop anything.
