ZipCD 12x10x32 @ BB B&M $129 before rebate

Just returned from a trip to my local BB and they had lowered their price on this to $129.99. Looks like this is not a sale, as it said nothing about being a sale price. Of course, they also had the $30 rebate mentioned there for a price of $99.99. My Best Buy was sold out....didn't really matter for me, as I already have the TEAC, but thought that I'd pass this on to everyone trying to flood CompUSA (who's probably sold out).

That's odd...the best buy here still has them for $280 (besides the rebate.) Speaking of the rebate, I just ordered this drive from CompUSA online, (they have it in stock nationwide) and ordered it shipped to my house, but i don't know if they'll include the rebate or not. Is there a PDF online that I can print? Or can someone mail me a copy? heh. Thanks

check other thread, you can find links for both the rebate forms, one which is valid till 12/31 and the other which is valid from 1/1/1

I just got back from Best Buy. The indeed dropped the price to 129.99. There are no more at the Pasadena BB.

Best Buy in Culver City has two hidden in the back. Price is $129.97. I saw 4 earlier, 2 are gone, 2 are hidden. =) Happy hunting. Although the price at the ones that were hidden was still $279.99, the store is selling at $129.97. To make it easier, you walk in to the store, turn right and procede to the wall, then go all the way to almost the back.
To clarify about the 2 gone, I didn't buy them. I was in 5 minutes after the store opened, and I was getting my $150 + 10% back, then some guy came in and grabbed both.

I also saw that the price had dropped to 129 at Best Buy today, however the two stores I checked, The Woodlands and Willowbrook were both sold out.

For those who found the drives out of stock at Best Buy, why not ask for a rain check to guarantee the price? Best Buy has always given me rain checks in the past -- although they never notify you when the item is back in stock (I've had to follow-up with them in the past). CompUSA, to my knowledge, doesn't give rain checks out, so go with Best Buy.

I found about 15 drives at the Reston, VA store @ 11:00 A.M. when BB opened up this morning -- and the stock was quickly disappearing. I think credit should go to Best Buy for being aware of what their competition is doing. Although we lost the 10% in doing a price match since they already dropped their price, no time was wasted trying to get a price match (and a BB employee trying to call CompUSA).

In the other thread, a member had eluded that he / she was going to purchase 4 of the drives from CompUSA, then return them @ Best Buy without a receipt to get a credit of $279 for each. I think this is kind of funny that Best Buy is selling the drives at the same price -- giving this individual a big '$0' Z-E-R-O for their efforts.

wje: It's a good idea, but BB wouldn't give me a raincheck when I asked, as the product must be in the weekly sales flier for a raincheck.

That's odd...maybe the CSR who I spoke to was incompetant or lying, heh...2 local best buy stores here, but one's phone # wasn't working (maybe due to weather) and the other said the price was $280.

<< the product must be in the weekly sales flier for a raincheck. >>

You might want to check with another CSR if you get a chance. I've been able to get rain checks in the past for items that were not in the circular. One example was the DSI/Digicom modem for $9.99. Best Buy dropped their price to this level when CompUSA was selling another modem for $9.99. No problem getting the rain check at that time.

Also, don't forget that CompUSA (on-line store) has this drive for $129 and the shipping appears to be about $5.00.

Actually, I called again, and they said that CompUSA isn't a local competitor (here, that is, because there is no CompUSA in toledo, ohio) so they're still $280.

Does the $150 price cut end Jan 1? or does it go through Jan 1?

Don't know what's going on here....maybe the price cut hasn't made it everywhere. I'm assuming that is what it is since this was looked like an everday price sticker in front of them. Everyone that I've been to in KC has it listed at that price.

I did get a raincheck from CompUSA. I will miss out on the rebate though as they told me there would be no more until at least tuesday.

Told by MGR Hector at Culver City, CA store that they will not give out rainchecks on this item, no real reason why though....

The Best Buys are selling these drives @ $129.00 and you can get a raincheck.I bought my drive and it rang up at $129.00 and got a raincheck for 15 drives.

None of the CompUSA's or BB's around here (sacramento) will give out rain checks or have any in stock, they said the rain checks are "at there discretion" and when I asked for the terms and conditions they kicked me out of the stores!!! *i'm 18 and i look 20+, i'm not a punk looking 13yo or anything* so I was kind bummed out, oh well....

edit: i went to another BB store and sweet talked a cute chick cashier 🙂 she gave me 2 rainchecks for them.

Brick and Mortar, it means the actual physical store, not the website. Does anyone know if the price at BestBuy will be at 129.99 all week or just DEC 31 - JAN 1? If it last all week, Best Buy may be getting more drives in. I believe they said that deliveries usually come on Tues or Wednesday
