The foundation for a riot is set. You have high unemployment like in 1992. Pent up anger in the inner cities by unemployed people, and quite some time between riots. So all the pieces are in place for a Riot if he walks out.
Also the strong belief of grave injustice if not guilty comes down against an already prejudiced community.
