They had more protest in downtown Houston yesterday as well. My next door neighbor is pissed as the traffic issues caused by the protest caused him to be 15 minutes late for a job interview.

This problem stems from the fact that multiracial societies are inherently set up for failure. There is good a reason we all evolved separately in different parts of the world.

I believe we can eventually overcome our collective racism though. We evolved to suit different environments, not to make certain that we don't like each other.

In-group/out-group hostilities are a part of our nature on every level though. Nations have a certain level of hostility to other nations. Races within nations are somewhat hostile to other races in the same nation. Local communities within races within nations are somewhat hostile to each other. Family groups within local communities within races within nations are somewhat hostile to each other. Individuals within families within local communities within races within nations are somewhat hostile to each other. It's a growing ring of hostility and mistrust around every individual that intensifies as it gets genetically and geographically farther away from that individual.

It's a hard barrier to overcome, but race only makes up one aspect of it. We have a lot more than that to deal with.

Gravitating towards those who look like you is something intrinsic to human nature and hard coded in the genes. Racially diverse societies like the U.S. try to accommodate it but it is a recipe for failure. If you look at places like New York, you see that communities are setup largely on racial boundaries where you have Italians in one area, Latinos in another and Blacks another. One would think that being in a multicultural society like the US and supposed melting pot, everyone would move away from isolated communities but the opposite actually happens.

The Zimmerman case is just one of many to come that will eventually fragment this nation and any other that does not have a homogeneous population. What's the solution? Probably nothing short of an alien invasion.
