ZEROtherm ZEN 13.99 afer MIR

As long as the rebate comes, it's a great deal. I got mine for $9 (pending rebate) at chiefvalue a while ago, but now they charge even more than Newegg. I'd get another one if they allowed 2 per household.

I had no trouble with the ZeroTherm rebate I sent in. (Different heatsink model.)

I recommend this cooler for 14 bucks you cant go wrong. Like I4AT I wish I could buy another one 🙂. Just remember for any one buying this ITS FREAKING HUGE.

On a side note I have my zen in a push pull configuration. I have my q6600 (1.325 VID) vcc 1.3875 at 3.4ghz with idle around mid 30's and load at 64c. Im going to try for 3.6 but 64c already is alittle too much for my liking and im seriously contemplating whether I should just lap my q6600 and zen fz120. Has any one lapped their Zen yet? Their appears to be a holding bracket on the bottom of the Zen, should that also be lapped down? Just looking for a few ideas thanks...

Thanks -- in for one too due to the rebate (don't forget 2.75% cashback at Live.com).

this is a pretty good hsf... the paste that comes with it is shin-etsu-like... i stuck it on the kids' x26000 and it dropped the temp by 15c vs. the stock heatpipe hsf (altho it looks like the goo on the stock hsf was drying up...)... but still, 45c max on a 6000 @ 3.3 is pretty good...

I have bought an Antec 900 (an ATX mid-tower, 8.1% wide) for my new build. Would appreciate it if someone having experience with this cooler and/or the case can tell me if the cooler will fit? On a more basic level, if I don't intend to overclock my Quad 9500, do I even need a CPU cooler, especially given that the Antec 900 case is probably one of the best air flow cooled case ( 3 X 120mm fans pulling in cool air and a massive 200mm fan on the top pushing out the hot air).

You definitely need a CPU cooler no matter what. I think you should be good to go in that kind of case, I would assume so but don't take my word for it.

This cooler is within 2 deg C of the best-performing air cooling as reviewed by Frostytech. Right now it's their #9 best-performing HSF out of every Socket 775 unit they have reviewed. You can do slightly better, but not for $14.

...but it is a very tall cooler... it came right to the edge of the case in my samurai... but it is also not as thick as some other coolers, but it is just as wide... it seems to have good clearance around the base, and can be oriented any way you want, so it ought to fit most cases/mobos...

only bad thing i noticed about this is it looks like you need to take the motherboard off to get this thing on/off.

That's a plus for some people, better contact with the CPU resulting in lower temps and more even support so the motherboard doesn't flex like it can with some push-pin mounted heatsinks.

Yep, it uses a backplate.

not for amd... did have to pull the psu out to be able to lean the thing over far enough to get the clip on (it has little teeth that make it sit in exactly one place... not a bad idea...)...

Mine fits in Ye Olde Lian-Li.

Of course, I bought mine - used - for more than twice the Newegg price a few months ago. And I had to spend $20 on a fancy-pants fan to get 74CFM through an 80mm fan hole....

Ok I dont need this but, with the 15% off cash back from newegg today, it makes this thing like under $10 after rebate lol.... At the very least I can sell it if I dont get around to using it.

Also additional 2.75% cashback from live.com as well....

Do you guys think I'll have to opt for a smaller northbridge heatsink to make room for this cooler if my NB hs just clears 3cm or is it gonna be a tight fit?

Sorry to bump a dead thread, but has anyone had any troubles with their rebate? The status for mine has yet to be updated even though I mailed my documentation in well over a month ago.

I e-mailed their customer service asking them what to do next, and the idiots sent me a blank e-mail response.

I had no trouble getting my rebate to go through. This is the very first time I have dealt with WorldwideRebates.com and they approved my rebate within a week of receiving my documents. They even replied to my emails within a couple of days too because I accidently chose the Visa card instead of a check. As always with dealing with rebates, you should make a copy of all documents in case you don't hear from them. I even spend a little money getting delivery confirmation when sending the papers for rebates as big as this one.
