I never thought The Sims was such a simple game, it had a lot to play with and the first one was kind of hard getting a good family going, plus you always had the role-playing factor and it was just fun as heck to experiment.
I don't really understand the comparison, Spore is like "Introduction To Gaming 101", here we have an interesting premise and cool creative and sharing tools, in that sense it's a great achievement but as a game it doesn't offer much.
Will Wright really sold his soul to the devil, he is supposed to be in this to make good games, not for the money, even if he "only" had the sales of Half-Life 2 that would still have been a lot of cash. Sid Meier didn't become a walk of game inductee by making games for retards.
There was a point where no one knew how to play games, we learned and we discovered something amazing, people are not dumb, games do not need to be dumbed down for them, they just need to be appealing enough for people to want to learn the game.
Spore treats it's players like they are 5 years old which is a real shame and really does make me think less of Mr. Wright's direction.
