A Halo handheld at $1000 would be a true gaming device replacement. Halo-type handhelds have the potential to disrupt the entire gaming market from desktop PCs to dGPU laptops to consoles.
This is why it won't happen. They aren't going to make such a large die SoC that requires a whole new expensive board and sell it at $1000.

$1000 to you means the whole system has to be $800 or less. What is AMD getting out of that? A good LiPo battery, a well built high quality case, large 512GB or more storage, 32GB or more RAM, complex board to support 256-bit interface, a high resolution high refresh rate OLED(because it's a fad, not because it's good but still) touch display. All that for $800. Not happening anytime soon.

It can work if it has volume, but that's serious volume you are talking about. This is why Nvidia's stranglehold is extremely difficult to breach. They already have the volume. They already have supplies ready to go. OEMs have been making boards on it for years and years.

What you are saying is what few of us has been saying and known for years. Halo iGPUs are desired because of the mentality that iGPUs are cheap. You aren't getting that with the Halo version.

The solution to AMD is same as Intel. Don't give up. Keep trying. But they have similar attitude as Intel in many things. They give up too soon.
 
I think it was more that the hardware is still fine. It isn't butchering games.
Yeah, that's fair. But that's not what MS uses to make decisions about the future -- right now, they are losing the market. They might feel compelled to do something to change the situation.

That something might be to get out of the hardware business. Or it might be to launch a new console that's sufficiently above the PS5 Pro that they can get a serious wow factor when the consoles sit next to each other in a store.
 
Qualcomm does a better job here too and they use expensive PMICs..
Those PMIC are bundled with their CPUs it's a deal like Thunderbolt/WI-FI with Intel CPUs are just cheap also Intel doesn't charge OEM for that TB logo as long as you put their chips.

Theres no way he's posting that if this is real. Im skeptical that its actually real, but its quite specific and the fact that its using the now hard to search GB5 and the seemingly realistic nature of the scores gives it some credibility in my opinion.

If we assume that the +10% IPC over Zen 5 applies perfectly to GB5, the ST frequency would be around 6.1 GHz, so quite plausible.

It’s probably around there and depending on N2 or N2P it’s 6.1-6.4GHz
 
Here is a 14900KS with ST boost of 7.5GHz scoring 3159 ST. Heres the same one getting 35K MT. Both likely featuring exotic cooling and extreme power draw. In any case, the "495X" score posted, if done under ambient cooling, can be considered incredibly high by any standard, both ST and MT. Its exceedingly rare to find 9950X's that can crack 2.9K/ 30K in GB 5 MT, most are around 2.6K- 2.7K and 26K-27K.

Nope 3159 is too low, needs to go higher like 3300-3400. This is probably where Zen6 will end up when all is accounted for in GB5

If we average your two ST scores together, 3186 is +20.49% on them. If we average your two MT scores, the leaked score of 36.6K is 38% higher. The guy made clear this is not indicative of final perf, hopefully that means it goes up, not down. Even if it remains, thats a solid score. Question is, what is the core count? 16, 20, 24??
