I remember Sony hyped up the Cell CPU but developers came out crying that it was too hard to program and as a result, the earlier PS3 games weren't as good as the ones on X360. Plus, M$ did a great job of hyping up X360 GPU's almost zero cost anti-aliasing capability so the people thought X360 graphics had the least jaggies. I only played Alan Wake on the X360 and it did impress me that a multi-threaded game for which Remedy said a 6-core CPU was necessary was running so well on the X360's tri-core PowerPC CPU. Of course, M$ bungled up the Xbox One's reputation with their pre-release negative publicity stunts and Sony made sure to listen to developers this time around and made game development much, much easier on the PS4.

360 success was bc big price diff and availability: 360 released 1 whole year before ps3 which costed x2 like $299 vs $599...... money had more weight back then in late 00s and gaming market was 90% teenagers

after 1-2 years ps3 got price reduction and Slim dropped it to like 300 bucks, ps3 sales were x2-x3 compared to 360

i.e. everyone wanted ps3 but many couldn't get it hehe. xbones were never anything special, just 360 at that zeitgeist was the cheapest easiest way to have something good for games, $199 is a good deal

(anyway lets move on)

edit: MSRPs varied a lot per region but 360 was always much cheaper
360 outperformed PS3 on most cross platform games, IMO it was the superior hardware all aspects considered. PS3 had some good exclusives, but really nothing that couldnt have been done on X360. The PS3 Cell processor was a huge flop. Originally, it was envisioned to handle the graphics as well, and when it became clear that wasnt going to happen, Sony made a last minute call to get an Nvidia GPU into the design. Very few games made use of the Cell in a way that couldnt be accomplished on the X360 CPU.

Lisa dropped something, and when she said AMD had worked on Xbox for over 20 years, she likely isn't just talking about ATi with the 360.
Gotta love the last minute switch to Intel, wonder how much money Grove offered to old Bill.
On a platform that used HyperTransport with NV licensing an AMD chipset.
Kinda cursed but MS is returning to the past, Xbox started as a PC and it will die as a PC.
EDIT: And the age old tradition of M$ screwing over AMD hasn't stopped until AMD gets a top tier Surface contract and enough MIXXX at Azure to make Craig Barrett lament how badly his company fumbled the ball he had so desperately secured.

I believe the xbox console will be zen 5 as it is supposed to be revealed next year itself & on 3nm. So unlikely to be zen 6

It is now safe to dream of a zen 5 plus rdna 5 apu — the z3 extreme

👇

It seems AMD’s broadened Xbox partnership involves a shift from solely providing custom chips for Xbox consoles to a full roadmap of gaming-optimized chips using both Ryzen and Radeon technology. This will apparently extend to consoles, handhelds, PCs, and the cloud. According to AMD, it ensures backwards compatibility, allowing gamers to play their existing titles across platforms.

I read that this chip is not unlocked. Do you have a special mobo/BIOS or going to do eCLK/bCLK OC?
Chip is fully unlocked (on regular public bios)
It act 100% like a normal 9950X3D, CPU-Z even reads it as the same stepping.
The only reason why i bought it is because i wanted to check if the cores/CCD's were better binned then a normal 9950X3D.

But haven't really started tuning the cores, testing the IMC first

Cores nothing to write home about.. 1.2vcore @ LLC auto (7) = 1.137 get vcore

The 360's Achilles tendon was they tried to push the HD-DVD standard. Where Sony went with Blu-Ray.

I bought a PS3 fat backwards compatible JUST for the Blu-Ray player in it.

Or did the 360 make an addon for the HD-DVD standard?

Pretty sure the 360 was just vanillia DVD. Looks like they did try an HD-DVD add-on. PS3 was a mess with expensive Blu Ray and the Cell design. Maybe Sony thought people would buy them just like they bought PS2's for their DVD abaility.

That seems to be average or inline with the consumer Ryzen. Long gone are the days of Socket 939 Opterons...

Heard crazy good things about the W-3175X. The chip would eat huge amounts of power but was also an insane overclocker for its time on custom cooling. Unfortunately, wayyyy too expensive.

They did and the fun thing is you can connect the Xbox360 HD-DVD drive to a Windows PC too. It shows up as a regular USB external drive. Anyway uhh… Zen5….

ok
9955HX3D laptop + 5070ti mobile 12gb in particular

playing wukong 2K Ultra settings native no DLSS, one of the most demanding games rn

FPS is around 50-70 but it always feels seamless..... there are no freezes, no drops, nothing. 50 FPS normally sounds almost unacceptable, but with X3D cpu it's still seamlesss..... barely noticeable it dropped below 60

with DLSS quality its around 90FPS, with frame gen x2 130FPS, x4 200FPS. frame gen works fine but prefer without

also for a laptop.... noise levels and temps are completely normal, nothing noticeable

and 12gb gddr is the sweet spot. just above 8gb. 8gb is used intentionally to force ppl to upgrade... its the choke point

due to the perfect 1% lows there are never any freezes

freezes/hiccups was the experience killer since forever. X3D is the cure

X3D + mid range GPU really fixes gaming no matter what you play. dont need anything more expensive at all

All of that seems subjective without CapFrameX graphs :p

Will there be a TURIN with V-cache?
Do you prioritize manufacturing resources on the packaging of cDNA GPUs?
