G.Skill Readies DDR5-6000 CL30 16 GB Trident Z5 Memory Modules With EXPO Support For AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs

The specific memory kit from G.Skill is the "F5-6000J3038F16G" and judging from its name, it is a single-stick memory module that operates at DDR5-6000 transfer rates and has timings rated at CL30-38-38-96. For comparison, the lowest latency kit you can get with XMP support for the Intel CPU platform is the "F5-6000J3040F16G" which is rated at the same DDR5-6000 speeds but slightly higher timings of CL-30-40-40-96. Both memory modules are expected to be rated at 1.35-1.45V.

Just a few days ago, we reported that DDR5-6000 will be the sweet spot for AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs based on the Zen 4 core architecture using the EXPO technology. The DDR5-6000 memory kits that are optimized with EXPO support will offer the best performance with the lowest latency in a 1:1 FCLK (3 GHz). However, for those who want to benefit from higher bandwidth, there will be faster DDR5 DIMM offerings and we have seen speeds of up to DDR5-6400 which we have been told is a very entry-level push-up from where the overclocking speeds are actually going to end up.

If there is a 7950x3d, it will be interesting to see to what extent the games, even single thread games, can take advantage of the V-Cache in the 2nd chiplet.

It seems that the entire benefit of 5900x and 5950x over 5800x in gaming was the 2nd L3 cache in the other chiplet, rarely any benefit from the extra cores. The 5900x vs 5800x3d gaming benchmarks mostly confirmed it.

So, in case of 7950x3d, it would be extra 96MB of L3 to take advantage of... I can't wait to see some well-constructed benchmarking...

i am interested about v-cache affecting apps like autocad, 3dsmax and photoshop. If games benefit from it that greatly, i dont see why this stuff wouldnt.

then again, what do i know as a layman.

That might help you some.

In the rumors about the 1:1, do they mean the following?
AMD Gear2 6000 MT/s = Dram Frequency of 3000 Mhz = 3000 Mhz Infinity Fabric?
Intel Gear2 6000 MT/s = Dram Frequency of 3000 Mhz = 1500 Mhz System Agent?
Intel Gear1 4000 MT/s = Dram Frequency of 2000 Mhz = 2000 Mhz System Agent?

Thank you, but that focuses on rendering performance, while i am interested in viewport performance.
I do appreciate your help, though.

They focused on gpu viewport performance in this article. Maybe drop them an email to ask them for a viewport benchmark article comparing Zen 4 and Raptor Lake by the end of the year.

I decided earlier this year to wait for Zen4 (finally building a new PC to upgrade from a 2009 i7 920 system). Seeing posts about DDR5 scalping and ordering parts now isn't what I was hoping for. I prefer to buy everything at one time rather than have parts sit around for months. Guess I might have to wait it out some more if the scalpers do their thing again.

Planning on a 7700x build with a 4070 (or 3080 if pricing drops low enough and they are still around when I do my build).

haha, and I thought my system is ancient.

I have Haswell HEDT system, with 5930k CPU and NVidia 780 Ti GPU.
(I think from 2013)

Hoping to upgrade to 7800x3d + Navi 31 or 32

I employ a "Tic-Toc" strategy in upgrading my CPU/Video Card, and it's time for a new CPU.
Going for a 6C 7600X, no OC needed, 5GHz average boost is good enough for me. But i would like a midrange board and not a X670. gonna carry over the DDR4 RAM at first, maybe upgrade later.
i guess im looking at early 2023 availability.

DDR4 is not supported at all for Zen 4.

AMD might have a plan B, in case DDR5 availability gets hurt somehow (scalpers mainly). Plan B being Zen 4 on AM4 (may take them a few months to build up stock). I think it would be the prudent thing to do to have a backup plan like that since Intel has no issue there.

Some of these X670 boards list ECC support for DDR5. But are there any DDR5 ECC UDIMM in existence? I see some spec sheets online but none available.
