Zen 3 is the same TDP as Zen 2 with 20% ish better performance per the AMD reveal. Both the 5900 and 5950 are on my radar, and given the same TDP, they should be very similar power draw to the 3900 and 3950.

How much power does a well tuned 3900 and 3950 draw?

I thought most Zen 2 were142 watt TDP ? Or is that what they draw ? I think we need to wait for reviews to say for sure.

142 W is the PPT of Ryzen 3000 CPUs with 105 W TDP.
Ian Cutress's article sounds as if this remains the same with Ryzen 5000 CPUs.

(In case of Ryzen, TDP is a meaningless marketing figure. PPT is the figure of interest. It can be easily customized though, as discussed here in this thread.)

I set the PPT in the bios to 105 (TDP "watts") on my 3900X and 3950X and both draw 170 watts at the wall running numberfields @3-8-3.9 GHz. Both run nice and cool on air.
