Wow does it really cost that much?!

I had taken an ambulance once, and I believe I only paid $150 for it, and I live in Quebec. 5 grand, that's ridiculous!
That might be a little bit exaggerated, but it is pretty insane. In the U.S. ambulance companies have been specifically set up to be out-of-network, so citizens get slapped with these awful bills.

I'm not American, and I don't usually follow politics, and not especially from another Country, however VP Harris has got me interested and I'm following and doing research. I think after all, what affects America somehow in some ways does affect Canada as well.

From my view, Former president DJT is just making a fool of himself day after day. If I were American, I'd be voting for Harris! You go girl. Fight!

It’s sad seeing many Canadians willing to vote for him if it was between him or Trudeau.

Breaking after-debate news, caused entirely by Trump's debate appearance:
The mayor of Springfield, Ohio, said a bomb threat Thursday that led to the evacuation of City Hall and numerous buildings “used hateful language towards immigrants and Haitians in our community.”

More background from the debate for those that missed it earlier:
- Trump's ranted out that Haitian immigrants were eating cats, eating dogs, eating your pets in Springfield Missouri.
- ABC's David Muir fact checked this live during the debate that this was a lie. Trump attacked Muir saying it was true, Muir then explained ABC had even contacted the city mayor of Springfield and had confirmed there was no such incident, it was a lie. (Trump then screamed out that he saw it on "the Television" so it must be true!)
- Trump went home after the debate and re-posted further repeats of this lie across his social media

- Fast forward to today: Racist hate spewing caller calls in bomb threat to Springfield City Hall

More Trump volunteer brown shirts.

It isn’t I had a transfer between ERs in the same metro area nothing weird and not critical and the bill was over 6 grand before insurance.

Where is all this money coming from??? She’s received almost half a billion. So kind of chump change to get another $47 million since the debate.

I was getting well in one healthcare facility but I had another issue that had to be addressed by the hospital next door. It was a one hundred yard walk to the hospital but they insisted they had to transfer me by ambulance. I think the ride was around $2000 and that was back in the mid 2000's.

Not always... I had to pay $300 for a non-emergency transport from one hospital to another facility 1.4 miles away. If it sounds stupid, that's because it is. IIRC they originally billed $1200 or so.

Note dark money where most billionaires contribute into PAC's isn't limited or tracked or included in that half-a-billion figure. But the official (non-dark money) contributions are tracked in immense detail:

40% ($210 million) coming from individuals contributing less than $200 each
Another $130 million coming from donors contributing between $200 and $1000
Only $65 million from highest category of donors (over $6,600 each)

Edit: data is through August 21 (shown near bottom of that summary webpage)

It's such a stupid policy to require that. There's no reason an orderly couldn't have rolled you over in a wheelchair if they didn't want you walking due to liability etc.

Kinda fits the general style of our healthcare system.

I seen a video of a seagull eating a squirrel. OMG these aliens need to go back into the sea.
A bird hit my window and when I went to see what it was, a squirrel grabbed it as it was still squirming and ran up a tree with it. Apparently those nuts and acorns aren't enough protein, lol.

And the EMTs get paid barely above minimum wage.
In some areas (looking at you, Long Island), it's because the predominant employers of said EMTs needs to buy fancy new fire trucks and clubhouses for their volunteers, instead of redirecting resources to the primary drivers of emergency calls.

Honestly I don't hear people talking enough about it. Trump, like Biden was, is past the average life expectancy for an American male. Biden was older, but Trump doesn't exactly ooze health.

If you elected Biden in 2020, you knew there was a better than usual chance that you'd have President Harris. And the same goes now for Trump and Vance. Not sure that bothers any GOP voters but it sure as hell bothers me. I think I'd take Trump over that stain if a gun was held to my head, but then that's kinda like askign if you'd rather be eaten by a shark or a crocodile.
The only thing Donald Trump oozes is hair dye and McDonald's grease.

Always was the god damndest thing to call 911 for paramedics and a fucking ladder truck shows up with like 6 guys.

Watch the whole thing. It's a master class in debate. It is simply amazing. She starts out a bit halting and you begin to worry... then she hits her stride... then she baits him into pure irrational rage.
Honestly, Out of everthing that was said, both by Trump and Harris, the fact that she baited him so easily, is the most important and dangerious thing that every American should take from this debate. She highlighted one of the most dangrious character flaws that any President could ever have. If she can continuously manipulate him so easily in 90 minutes, it shows, that he can be, and will be manipulated by our enemies, both domestic and foreign. That character flaw alone should make every American, regardless of party, realize that he can never be President again.

Welcome to unchecked private monopoly pricing. The majority of their theft actually comes straight from the government which generally doesn't check and can't legally negotiate such billings (thanks Republicans!)

Cause republicans are for free markets. That's why the republicans say that government can't negotiate prices like you and I, and these companies can freely loot the government's coffers.

Look at the hissy fit republicans threw over medicare drug price negotiations. They think it's a travesty democrats are able to lower the cost of providing life saving drugs. Unbelievable.
