Dudes this sucks. I live in metro Detroit now instead of Fail York and there is no Yuengling here. So here I am with a freaking High Life which is good stuff but damn. I go down the beer aisle at the grocery store and see the same old shit which is the same as NY except it was the same old shit + Yuengling which makes all the difference.

Yeah there's a bunch of good beers but as far as your average quality average price beer it has to be Yuengling.

You always want what you can't get. Yuengling is decent but I already went through that phase and burned out on it. Anyone remember back when you couldn't get Coors east of the Mississippi and it was like the gold standard? Once it finally became available everyone eventually discovered that it actually sucked, but not before we gorged on it.

I love Fat Tire which isn't in Florida so on my recent trip to Georgia I brought a case back. I'd probably burn out on that too if it was available here.

Brother I don't know what kind of ass pile swill you were drinking but IPAs are far and away some of the best beer on the planet. If you're in OH check out the Hippie IPA by Buckeye Brewing and the Columbus Beer Company IPA or even Weasel Boy IPA.

Seriously, most of the best beers I've had are IPAs. English IPAs, Imperial IPAs, Black IPAs...

Yeah, I definitely don't like IPAs.
I'm a malts guy.

For reference, I uh... referenced Columbus Beer Company's IPA when I noted "tastes like pinesol"
I nearly threw up drinking that btw.

I imagine Great Lakes has a better tasting IPA, but between the Sam Adams IPA, CBC's IPA, and Dogfish Head 60min...
I am definitely through with the hopfest that are IPAs. If I can't enjoy either of those three, it's the style of beer, not the company.

hop-heavy lagers are about the closest I can get to the hops-end of the beer spectrum. Malt-heavy, I destined to enjoy it, to some degree.

Hey, it's not everyone's preference, pal!

It just happens to be that my favorite beers happen to be *just about any* Stout and some American Porters, Irish Lagers, Ohio Stouts.

Just about every Great Lakes Brewing Company beer I like too, save for the IPA.

Oh, and Yuengling is coming to Ohio! Take that other states that still want it.
I was seriously pissed when I discovered I could buy as much Yuengling as I could handle while in Georgia this summer. And then I simply bought the Yuengling. So it goes.

And then I get home and I find out we're getting it this fall. Awesome!

Oh, and about damn time Pennsylvania. Georgia, really? Before you're fucking neighbor?! She's a whore you know!

You might try Dogfish 90 minute. It has a huge amount of malts in addition to the hops -- much different than the 60 minute and other typical IPAs.

That class being "tastes like shit"? I have tried and tried to like GL beers and it's just not happening. Closest I got was the Lake Erie Monster or some such.

Btw, what's with all the OH people in this thread? LOL

Have you tried Eliot Ness, Dortmunder Gold, Edmund Fitzgerald Porter, or Oktoberfest? For reference, all four of those beers are in the top 5 of their category on BeerAdvocate, and two of them are #1.

Also, Ohio all the way!

Virginia ftw... I live in a pretty expensive area (suburbs of D.C.), and I can get Yuengling for $1 a pint, $5 pitchers.

More excited about Fat Tire being widely available in the area now though. Helllll yea

Fat Tire is coming to VA?

Cool. I'll finally get to try it.

Yuengling is good stuff, yep. It had just started getting to Baton Rouge when I left, and it's already here in Birmingham, so I'm happy.

Sweetwater is generally great as well, although I don't know that it counts as a macrobrew at this point.

Was at a bar last night and they claimed to have had Yuengling Oktoberfest on tap. I had never heard of it so I said sure, I'll try it. Tasted pretty much like...Yuengling. I.E. not bad but not Hacker Pschorr or Hofbrauhaus Oktoberfest. Those two are excellent when you get them early in the season.

Lol, you got punked.

Yuengling has never made an Oktoberfest or any other seasonal beer, ever.

Chesterfield Ale, Porter, lager, premium lager. They added Black and Tan a few years back, and then light beer for the fatties, the girls, and the metrosexuals who drink like them.

Sorry, I realize I'm a little late to the party, but I was hoping someone might be able to give me an idea of how long Yuengling is good for? So far I haven't been able to get a definitive answer, but because I'm going to have to drive a couple of hours to purchase it and I only want to make the trip once, I'll need to plan accordingly. Thanks!

I home brew beer and wouldn't keep anything over a year old. And that's stuff that stays in a no light constant temp spot.

Don't know if Yuengling is the best, since I (obviously) haven't tried each and every macro-brewed beer that exists.....but it is pretty darn good!

I did find it hilarious that at Disney's Epcot Center, they sell this beer in the Chinese pavilion area. Guess it was easier than trying to import an actual Chinese beer! :hmm:
