mine averages 25.5 but something must be wrong with the methodology. I cache a lot.

It is clear that throttling goes on because it will download really fast for the first 5 seconds or so, then crawl until the video catches up and then stalls and caches for the rest of the video.

There's a thread around here some place, else it was in the news somewhere, but apparently Youtube is going to have paid channels now? Perhaps some of the ISPs are trying to get ahead & make the idea of paying Youtube for various channels as unattractive as possible? "Why would I pay for Youtube when I'm always stuck waiting for it to buffer."

I cross my fingers for what Youtube may have planned. If I could pay just for the content I want, good-bye television package that forces me to purchase 80 channels I don't want in order to get the 3 channels that I do want.

I have FIOS and youtube is terrible. I don't use youtube very much but it's always stuttering or simply stopping in the middle of a video. I remember seeing a thread on broadbandreports.com that explained why it was a Verizon issue but don't recall the details.

yea that speed chart is pretty meaningless. FFS i had to buffer a 240p video last night, everything else on the net runs fine.

Did you run the Youtube speed check? http://www.youtube.com/my_speed

That's neat did not know about that.

Interesting that Canada seems to be ranking higher than "global" (which I imagine the majority is US). Wonder if there's more throttling going on the US side of things.

I seem to be at 5.22 Mbps which is much better than I thought. though that fix I did with blocking the IPs really helped a lot. It's funny how it does not work for everyone though, there must be others too that need to be blocked and perhaps not everyone ends up being sent to them.
