Youtube Ads where it lasts 30 seconds and you can't skip them.

I can't believe adblocker actually works; that youtube doesn't have a way to merge the ads with the actual video, but there you have it, they do work. Watching youtube without adblocker is impossible. Youtube is barely usable as it is with its fvcking bullsh*t crappy slow bandwidth, especially during peak hours.

Embedded youtube videos stopped loading for me with adblock. They wouldn't load at all, as in I couldn't even click the little youtube icon to go to the youtube page for the video. Just a black box appeared where the video should be. I had to whitelist youtube.com for the videos to play.

Just blocked it again based on people in this thread stating it hasn't been causing them issues (and those 30 second unskippable ads have become rather annoying). Hopefully embedded videos continue to work.

Maybe it was just something those sites were/are doing that blocked the youtube video from loading.

FWIW, I use the html5 beta for YouTube, and I don't have issues. I never had problems with Flash either, but if your issues started over the last year or so, maybe it's relevant.

Embedded youtube has always worked for me with ABP.

And AFAIK ABP is the best for both FF and Chrome.

Same so some people fail at using the internet.

And some people use youtube at work, where they have no privilege to install anything.

I too believe youtube is getting bold with the ads. Google always had the favor of their users positive opinion because they always stood clear of unpopular choices. This is changing now, in a way that it may start to make sense using another video site.

My form of protest is never letting cumbersome ads load. If you let it play in the background you may be giving them positive reinforcement. If I can't play a video without excessive ads, I look for it somewhere else.

I just close the video. I'm not watching a 30-second ad to see a 10-second video.
