Video ads are a lot like fax spam. Wasting your resources (data in this case) for their advertising. That's why ABP rocks. Though it doesn't work for everything, such as TV network websites.

I think some people just choose not to use it, even here. ABP has been mentioned a couple hundred times here over the years, I'd bet.

Yup, I used it for a bit but I kept having issues, especially with flash videos. I found it more annoying to deal with than the ads, and most sites I go to don't have annoying as hell popup ones anymore so I don't care if they are there or not.

Be reasonable people, serving all that YouTube videos must cost a lot of bandwidth / servers, plus Google has to pay licensing fees. Do you expect the money to pay for this to magically come out of nowhere?

I'm not going to give the advertisers a false sense of accomplishment by reaching me: there is zero chance of me buying any product because I am more aware of it through video advertising. In fact, I may be less likely to buy the product.

I've used Adblock Plus for years. I was rather shocked one day when i did a new install and forgot to put Adblock on, not just the long video ads, but the sheer amount of annoying Ads that follow my screen..etc was horrific because the last i saw the net before ABP, it was mostly pop ups, now most sites are so littered its a pain to read anything, they flash, they follow, they push site material to odd sides, like the advertisers or site admins were desperate or something...even on some forums.

Same here. Advertisers must hate me. Use ABP and DNT+. Ironically it's what pays my wages. Out site just uses banner ads though.

not sure but Atomic web browser for ipad has built in Adblock and ability to edit the filters.

That's what I use, and it works fairly well. Unfortunately, they haven't updated the app to work with the latest iPhone resolution, which makes it much less worthwhile right now. :\

Well how else will youtube pay for that massive infrastructure. No ads no revenue.

I just loaded adblock up on my chrome, now I don't see ads on this site. I want to fill the pockets for Anand, how do I get the revenue stream he's making off me back in the works?

Click the little red ABP icon and uncheck the box "enable for this site."

Who buys stuff based on an advertisement any more? I figure most people use the internet to research items they're thinking of buying, rather than just cave in to the most flashy or cute advertisement.

All of those are 100% blockable.. I honestly cant figure out how people on sites like AT still dont use ABP.
I can't believe adblocker actually works; that youtube doesn't have a way to merge the ads with the actual video, but there you have it, they do work. Watching youtube without adblocker is impossible. Youtube is barely usable as it is with its fvcking bullsh*t crappy slow bandwidth, especially during peak hours.

I don't think we've ever seen a hulu ad. All it says is that there was a problem displaying an ad, and that I should feel guilty about watching a show without enduring one.

HAHAHAHA!!!
