If it has front speakers, then I may as well get whatever the Nexus 6 ends up being. Boo.

fwiw top and bottom speakers mean it might still be one hand usable. That's more about overall width than height. Though if its not one handable, might as well just get a phablet sized phone.

If its Moto styled front facing speakers than yes. If it is HTC style we are doomed. I hate these M8 speakers.

If you look at the first Twitter reply... it's taller *and* wider than the M8.

edit - from GSMArena and the original tweet, the full dimensions:

Moto X 2014 - 140.8 x 72.4 x 10 mm
One M8 - 146.4 x 70.6 x 9.4 mm
Nexus 5 2015 - 146.9 x 72.9 x 8/9.8 mm (?)

Not sure what that thickness variation is, but that's not really the issue.

edit 2 - ahh, here's the explanation:

Roughly from 8mm to 9.8mm (protruding camera)

Wow, good info!

Looking at it, shouldn't be that bad because it is not very much taller than a M8 with a bigger screen. Plus its wider, my real issue is the tallness and thinness almost makes it topple out of my hand sometimes. Very unbalanced.

G2 138.5 x 70.9 x 8.9 mm
N5 146.9 x 72.9 x 8/9.8 mm

Wtf why did it get bigger? Does lg like htc sized bezel's?
I didn't really like the size of the g2 compared to my n5, now the new one is going to be even bigger than the g2? Fuck that...

Hmm I wonder if the speakers are a bit of a red herring and the height is due to a fingerprint sensor like the One+2.

New leak.

The fingerprint scanner slapped on the back like that looks ugly but then again I've never bought previous Nexus devices for their looks.

Could be extremely functional though if placed just right. Imagine picking up your phone and it unlocking as it reads your finger.

Looks like USB-C and dual front speakers confirmed. Thickness makes me think both wireless charging and a 3100mah battery might be present.

Dual-tone LED is promising, maybe they paid more attention to the camera this round.

Honestly I thought the nexus 6 camera was good enough, if they could get it on par with that I think it should be fine

that will only work 90% of the time. Enough for you to leave it on, but the last 10% will annoy the hell out of you. meanwhile, google will have moved on to something else, and leave you to stew in a pool of frustration

Saw that last night... it's 'classic' Nexus: looks super-simple and frugal, but that probably means that you're getting a lot of tech for a relatively low price. I'm just not sure about the presumed fingerprint reader on the back. It's probably easy enough to use, but a big advantage of the iPhone's front-mounted Touch ID (and the Galaxy S6 reader that copied it) is that you can easily unlock your phone without picking it up. That's far from a dealbreaker, it's just noteworthy.
