Evil Dead

Three Colors

The Matirx

So...about 8 years ago I ordered some cookware...a few spatulas, metal spoons, etc from Amazon....instead of one of the spoons, I received the 3 colors in the box. About 4 years later I watched them. Decent movies if you're into subtitles, but the poster is definitely good looking. :)

Thank you; glad I'm not alone here.

I am of a completely different opinion than you and Zimfamous on this one...

Alien is the best of the bunch, for sure.
Aliens, is fantastic
Alien 3, is TERRIBLE
Alien Resurrection is my second favorite of the bunch. (Jeunet rocks!)

Anyhow, I can' t make it through Alien 3, usually I get bored and stop the movie, and resume it another day...

Not in this thread, a couple of people said they didn't like it, but no explanations other than "I get dumber every time I watch it"

Pretty sure I got into it a bit in the movie thread as I recently re-watched them all.

I agree on most of this; the first is my favourite by far and the fourth is my second favourite (had a lot of fun with that one actually). 3 is pretty much unwatchable, but where we differ is on the second one which I find to be very badly outdated and just not very good.

Taxi Driver?

You'll find few in the biz that would put Taxi Driver above Raging Bull. It tend to remain in the top 3 of International film polls on a rather consistent basis, and I agree.

I don't so much check these things anymore, but it's usually between Raging Bull, Godfather 2, 8 1/2, Citizen Kane.

I'm sure opinion has changed, though.

I certainly prefer RB over Taxi Driver.

No, I said "it gets dumber every time."

It's mostly a dumb action flick. it's entertaining, sure, but does nothing in conveying true emotional terror like the 1st one.

All of the one-liners come from Aliens. that should tell you enough...

No that's true, but that's because it's not a horror it's an action thriller. It's a completely different film more comparable to something like Die Hard than to the first one.

yeah, the more I think about it, this is another rare one where all of them were good. Pretty much the same movies, but none of them were a let down.

i really, really, really liked OldBoy, but was quite put-off by Sympathy.

not sure if I'll ever get around to watching Lady Vengeance b/c of that.

Lady Vengeance is the weakest of the 3 IMO. What didn't you like about Sympathy?
I thought it was the best of the 3.

 for Raging Bull. I'm tempted to say it's on par with Goodfellas though.

I love Goodfellas, but I wouldn't put it anywhere near Raging Bull.

I honestly feel that DeNiro gave the single greatest performance in the history of film with Raging Bull. ...and I'm not the only one that feels that way.

I think it's the main reason people put it on such a pedestal. (aside from the fact that everything going on with that film is phenomenal).

He was certainly great before (GF 2; Taxi Driver), but Raging Bull is what canonized him.

nah, what you want to do is compare Terminator 1/2 to Alien/Aliens.

that has been done ad-nauseam on these forums. :D

They both have the same differences, similar style. though Terminator 2 is way way better than Aliens.

How the heck is Die Hard any different from Die hard 2? same action flick, terrorists taking over some building, some dude pissing them off? The first one is way better, of course (mostly b/c of Rickman), but they are pretty much the same thing.

That's exactly it, you need everything spelled out for you. You are utterly incapable of reading between the lines, picking out subtext, or thinking for yourself.

The other day in some thread I made a comment about free speech or something which contained my normal dose of figure it out, and you just dismissed it. Later in the thread someone came along and verbosely spelled out exactly what I said, and you commented to them that it was a good point and that you had never thought about it like that.

Being so, it suprises me very little that you like Aliens.

A fair point, but I would say that Aliens is better than Terminator 2, it's serious and awesome. I'd definately say that T1/T2 is a better comparison. than Die hard.

Oh shut up you moron, I'm talking to someone who actually wants to discuss not insult. I understand things perfectly, I'm quite intelligent, unless you have something to contribute other than ridiculous insults then keep quiet.

I thought it was the best of the 3.

Lady Vengeance was perhaps my favorite of the three....
Close between Oldboy and Lady Vengeance though...

Mr Vengeance was a bit weaker IMO. Just seemed a bit "choppy" IMO.

hey, neckguy: there is a recently-started WBC thread for you to troll in.

Been there already, it's not trolling, it's just expressing my opinion, people don't tend to agree with it, that doesn't make it trolling. Google the definition.
