We design and manufacture nuclear attack submarines (Electric Boat in Groton), if it wasn't for us, the rest of the states would be a giant smoking hole in the ground.

We also have Sikorsky helicopter in Stratford along with thousands of small but extremely important defense contract business's including the Pratt and Whitney plant.

Hartford, the insurance capital of the U.S.

Captain Kid's treasure is buried off the coast of Milford somewhere on Charles Island. (my hometown)
We were the headquarters for the pirates that ran amuck on the east coast (after New York)

Stamford and Westport (with Fairfield county) live a large population of celebrities (Martha no longer resides in CT 😛 )

i'd hardly call ohio flat. my spot in north central ohio requires 4x4 to get to my house in the winter. northwest ohio is pretty flat though.
ohio has cranked out quite a few presidents i believe
 
California- we have very rich people carrying the conomy, and even more poor people bringing it down. But in the end, isn't diversity all that matters? =)
