I was making a batch of chili the other day and mistook the ground cinnamon for ground cumin. Got most of it scooped out but there was still a slight undertone of cinnamon in the chili that nobody but me recognized because I knew what it was. It was hella-good and everyone liked the chili but my daughter asked what I had done differently.

Pumpkin Spice <shifty>

So I added some mustard and a little cocoa and it helped my chili. I also forgot to mention I cooked the chili I added frozen corn and a whole wheat macaroni since I didn't have bell pepper and I wanted more calories because I wasn't using meat.

A pound of bacon minced finely, and a bottle of a malt forward beer (octoberfest or guiness works.well)

and a table spoon or two of worschesshire sauce.

Add this to your current recipe and your chili will be elevated

edit: bacon will add salt. So season your chili at the very end to achieve your salt level

I always add cumin to my chili. I thought everyone did.
