I made an Indian-style chili for a neighborhood cook-off once...modified a version of this recipe for a bit more East-west fusion. Secret was peri peri and halal lamb. Won 3rd-place.

I dont have any secrets
I've tried lots of different ingredients.
Whisky tends to work really well, better than Beer IMO.
Tequilla in chili is fun and good too.

Whatever you do, add liquor to improve it.

My son actually came home from college last weekend just because I was going to make some. However, the outside projects I was working on lasted a lot longer than anticipated, so I told him I would make it this upcoming weekend.

I just have to get a bottle of hot sauce, and then on Saturday it's on! :D

This is the only 4-way my wife will let me be part of. :p

Miso is good stuff ... Never tried it in a Chili, but I use it a lot when making soups.

I havent tried it yet, but I bet Gochujang would go good in Chilli!

I've always been partial to Skyline myself. Just bought some yesterday in fact
I like them both, but there were a lot more Gold Star restaurants around the area I lived.

However, my dad refused to eat their version, and whenever I visited him, it always had to be Skyline.

Good quality DRIED beans, and dried mushroom (ground). I wager I could make better vegetarian chili than most peoples' meat chili. Vs the contestants at my last neighborhood block party it's no contest.
