My mother works down in the 711 on Granville and Drake. She's not even sure how she's going to manage getting to work and back the weeks of the Olympics. Vancouver certainly isn't the best laid out city in terms of road service but they went overboard on the route closures! How do they expect people to do business if they can't get easily from point A to B? 😡

Oh it's going to be a freaking nightmare. I just went over the "Olympic Transportation Plan" online and it looks like a mess. I was trying to plan a route from my place to the Home Depot and I could not figure out how the heck I am going to get there. :hmm:

I swear, they should just give everyone the time off.

Lol definitely. Funny thing is. My father who teaches Chinese at Douglas College gets two weeks off and the closures really don't affect him much at all. Damn college profs have it sweet. He has 4 months or more off every summer too.

I know! Extended breaks for all the students and teachers. Lucky bastards.

Don't know if I'd call it vacation but the next planned trip is in March for my friends wedding in FL.

I was as worried as you guys are about traffic during the 96 Olympics in Atlanta. I was forced to work Midnight to 8 am, that's how scared people were about traffic. When they finally started, people were so afraid to go on the roads that they were virtually empty the whole time. Getting around here, which is a bitch on a good day,was effortless. Maybe your silly canuck friends will heed the warnings too and keep their asses planted in their homes.

Peace

I sure hope so, but the streets are so messed up here when they close things down it becomes a nightmare.

A month ago I forgot they were doing the Santa Claus parade and I told my girlfriend I would drive her home. A trip that normally takes 10 minutes (round-trip) took over an hour and included all kinds of circular moves and backtracking. I vowed that day to be off when the Olympics rolled around.

Wow you guys are way cooler than me, I'm going to Colorado for a week this summer. Go hiking, white water rafting maybe some rock climbing and site seeing out in the wilderness. I've been a few times but not in years.

This year, it's one visit back to Texas to see family, and a trip to Ireland. And several weekends to North Beach on Mullet Key, but that's a 15 minute drive.
