Your House Temperature is ... ??

It's the kind of cold right now that goes right through you, only -5 out but feels more like -40. 20-22 in the house so it shouldn't be cold but it feels cold. Watched a movie and had a cat on my lap so that helped lol.

Yeah I do all that, except for opening windows in winter as that kinda defeats the purpose of trying to heat the house. They won't open even if I try anyway. Wood stoves also don't really produce any moisture, the exhaust is going outside so even if wood was wet it would not affect the inside. Also draws air from outside, it's a (mostly) sealed system.

Weirdly enough the dehumidifier only picked up like a cup worth of water in a 12 hour period, so I turned it off as it was just using power for nothing. I have a big hole in my ceiling and vapour barrier is not fully sealed as it's all broken and will need to be replaced, I suspect that's my problem. Suppose to be fixed soon. Roofers caused that damage so they're fixing it for free. Hopefully they come soon to start on drywall. They wanted to leave it to dry as it was soaking wet.

70°F with the thermostat set at a 73° setback. 31°F outside right now.

I’m using the natural gas setting on my dual fuel heat pump. The target temperature on the thermostat is reached faster than the electric setting.
I have a two stage heat pump but it is an older unit from around 2006. I'm curious what outside temperature does your NG furnace take over? I have my Nest set at 40*F and that is when the heat pump stops and the NG takes over. Is yours similar?

I could do that too with my progamable thermostat.

It’s an old Trane 3 ton unit. I’m a lazy fuck and our natural gas is cheap so the mode setting on the thermostat for “Emergency Heat” automatically fires the gas burners. I just leave it set at that until early spring.

51° at the thermostat again. Probably 40s in my bedroom. My Galileo thermometer gives up after a certain point :^D Built a fire about an hour ago. It's 26° and cloudy outside. Bits of snow sprinkles. A fine day :^)

7F outside this morning, but the mini split heatpump setup in my apartment (outdoor unit on the roof) is keeping up just fine, with set temps of about 68F.

47° this morning, and 44° in my bedroom. Waiting to find out if I have to go into work today to see if I'm making a fire.

18°F heading to a high of 31° this afternoon. 71°F inside this house.

42°F tomorrow’s high, 52°F predicted for Wednesday’s high!

Shitlol

Was 5 out, 67 in. I'm trying to switch propane companies, but as they say, no one wants to work.
Every propane delivery company in the United States should explode and DIAF. AmeriGas you go first.

When I lived in CT, I had to switch my wood-burning stove to a propane unit because my ability to cut, split, stack and burn wood was destroyed by the MS I contracted.

There wasn’t any natural gas service in my area at the time and CL&P electric rates were very high. That was my initial reason for burning wood.

My first mistake was not purchasing my own propane tank. I never considered that as an option & those scumbag propane providers didn’t give that information out either. State law required the propane delivery company to provide their own tank. For every degree it got colder outside each winter the price per gallon of propane increased no matter who the provider was!!

Shopping around local providers for better prices was fruitless. They charged a delivery fee for a new tank and a removal fee for the old tank if you changed providers.

Fuck em all!

Have you priced out getting wood delivered? Might be cheaper than propane and it saves from all the cutting and splitting.

Heat pump might be an option too, only need to burn wood on the really cold days so you go through it less fast. I sometimes regret not going that route when I got a new furnace, but my wood stove was not operational at that point so didn't want to do that only to find out that for some reason or the other I can't use the wood stove. The newer heat pumps work well for the shoulder seasons and mild days but still need something else for the colder days when it goes down to -30.

Replying to myself because this weather is bananas!

It hit 58°F yesterday and it’s on its way to 54°F now. Windchill is down to 47°F because gusts are up to 35 mph. The neighbor across the street has a 6 foot Santa Claus inflatable that now rests in the driveway two houses down the street.🤣🤣

60°F predicted for Christmas Day. Shitlol

38 right now. Gotnwarm enough to turn the driveways into skating rinks. Snow on the way and supposed to drop in temp. Somehow forgot to take the kids to bentleyville last night. Going to freeze this weekend or monday doing it now.

Still keeping house at 68.

Server Room: 30.1°C (=)
HVAC Return: 24.4°C (-)

Same here. Outside temp is fairly warm so this morning I decided to turn off the furnace and let the house temp slowly drop. Once it got to around 55*F inside I started a fire and it is keeping the main floor at a nice temp.

64º where I'm sitting, just chilly enough that even with my fingerless gloves on I'm thinking of turning up the heat (but haven't yet).
Maybe what I need is a heated mouse...
