I had a house fire two years ago next month, and all the people that think they are going to take their computers with them have their heads up their bums. Especially the guy who was worried about powering everything down correctly. The fire in my house was across the house, in the room diagonal to where I was at the time, and the only thing I thought about was getting my ass out and making sure my family wasn't far behind.
It doesn't even cross your mind to take anything out the doors with you other than your own ass. I didn't have shoes on my feet, and my two year old nephew (at the time) didn't have a shirt on. You don't think about sh!t like that when your house is on fire.
The people talking about taking thier important documents, wallets, ID's, keys, etc etc are in their right mind. You have to be able to get yourself to the store to buy yourself new clothes, food, you have to be able to pay for a hotel those first three or four nights.
