A&W Ontap and in the chilled mug is hard to beat. Their bottled RB is not very good though, rather mediocre.

For Mass Produced, Barqs is the clear leader. Mug is a decent RB and a nice change on occasion.

My bro was on a Root Beer kick a few years back. Once a month he'd get a few bottles of some obscure RB he'd find at a store and/or on the Net. I tried a couple swallows of some of those and what stood out to me is the variety within RB. It's as varied as Beer or Wine and it's unfortunate that more varieties are not easily available.

Voted for Henry Weinhard's because I've always liked it, but I also have to give a shout out to Dorothy's Isle of Pines Root Beer. It's supposedly the same recipe used by Dorothy Molter, the last person to live in the Boundary Waters in northern Minnesota before they banned permanent settlements in the area. She used to brew root beer and give it to passing canoeists.

Caffeinated rootbeer FTW!

Barqs is not caffeinated

Yes it is. Diet Barq's is not, but you'd have to be a fool to actually drink diet root beer.

EDIT: Timewarped before the edit... weird.

But yeah, the Wikipedia page even says that it was the first major root beer to have caffeine.

I don't know why, but I like Thomas Kemper rootbeer. It's has a hint of honey to it, which at first i hated and yet I kept buying it and have grown to love it. They'll get my vote.

There's a small little brewery near Lincoln and Woodstock, New Hampshire that brews their own root beer. It's one of the better I've had. So "Other?"

IBC and Jones are my favs, Henry Weinharts is good too... A&W is good out of the tap at an A&W store, but canned or whatnot sucks...

I drink a lot of Barqs too, it is good and everywhere

Henry's is delicious. I'm surprised it's winning, not because it doesn't deserve to, but because it's difficult to find outside of the West Coast. But it is just fantastic, absolutely delicious. Their Vanilla Cream Soda and Orange Cream Soda are great too.

Barqs and IBC are my favorites.

A&W from a can always disappoints.

I also find that any root beer is usually better from a chilled glass (or bottle).

All Soft Drinks are better from a Glass Bottle. I wish Coke/Pepsi would stop this plastic bottle/Aluminum Can nonsense.

When I was a kid back in the '70's we walked to school in bare feet with snow up to our knees 2 miles uphill both ways, but we had Pop in a Glass Bottle dagnumbit. That made all the hardship worthwhile.
