2000 Professional or the Win2k3 Server series. I'm not a fan of XP, etc. Well, I'm not a big fan of Windows at all, but I'd have to say those two stand out.

I put XP.

3 votes for ME?!?! They should be banned from the intarweb for that heresy!

ME truly is a terrible system....ran into more problems with that system than everything else combined.

even 2000 pro? :confused:
Yeah. 2kPro is rock solid stable. I actually got a *gasp* BSOD last week while trying to convert DivX to DVD using Nero, and it was the first time I'd seen one in more than a year (and then I was burning in new memory and playing with faster-than-spec timings, so that doesn't really count). Turned out the culprit was a corrupt DivX file.

XP Pro, not XP Home. I haven't played with the 64-bit edition yet, either.

It's crap don't bother, I tried the eval version from their website and it did nothing but crash on my laptop.

x64?

Which build? The older build did that...I've been using the newr build for a few months now, and haven't had a single problem yet. (using it as my main os)

Yeah the older one, I'm not sure if you can download the newer build as an eval version.

they updated their link about a week after it was released to MSDN, and made it public :)

Er, 2000 is basically a more stable version of 98SE. They even look pretty similar.

supposedly out by the end of this month/very early next month. If you have a legit version of windows xp 32 bit, they'll replace it for you for free with the 64 bit copy :)

thats the most ignorant thing i've ever heard. windows 2000 is a full version higher than windows 98SE (version 4.xx to version 5.0). :roll:

no

win2000 is version 5 of the NT kernel

98SE is just another win95/dos clone

win2003 server is nice, but I haven't had a chance to really play with it

on the client I still like win2000 pro over XP

same functionality and it's not a ram hog like XP

WinME = win98 with some minor crap added, and crappified
win2k = nt 4 + 1
xp = win2k + .1

Something like that anyways.
