I recently watched the HD-DVD version of The Sting, AWESOME movie. Looks incredible in HD too. I love all the Ocean movies, the chemistry between the cast is great. But The Sting is so fucking good. The HD-DVD version isn't Pan & Scan but actually the original format restored.

That flick alone is almost reason enough to own a HD-DVD player.

One of the channels played it in HD either HDNET or MGM or Universal, looked great, it aired last month I think.

Anyone who doesn't vote for The Sting hasn't seen it.

honestly. it is a seriously good, classic, movie.

there was an ice cream truck out near where i work a few months ago, and it was playing the sting theme...but it was a couple blocks away going around a neighborhood and i could barely hear it, and thought i was going nuts.

ronin is also good, so is heat, and so is heist.

It's a piece by Scott Joplin called "The Entertainer" that was written way before the movie.

Dog Day Afternoon (one of the better films ever made)
Fight Club (a heist movie in disguise)
Who's Minding the Mint (screwball heist movie)
Ocean's 11 (with Frank Sinatra)
The Usual Suspects
Trainspotting (it's semi-heist flick)
The Killing (it's Kubrick, don't argue)

I laugh every time I see it. HIYO!

Which is more than anyone could say about Ocean's 12!

I despise Ocean's ripoffs. So yeah... I agree 100%.

A classic "heist" movie always has a strong comedic element.

Ronin. Anybody who picked Ocean's 11 over Ronin is a fruit cake, absolutely no debate on that and I will not talk to them about it.

Heat is great. Three Kings is a darn good movie. There are several good ones on there.

WHO THE HELL picked Ocean's 12? wtf, hit yourself. I mean really for two people that is the best heist movie they've ever seen? How was Prison for the last 20 years or the cave you live in? I ban you from Anandtech.

Some not on the list from an oldster:
Who's Minding the Mint
The Great Scout & Cathouse Thursday
How to Steal a Million

How could I forget:
The Pink Panther (the original of course)

How to Steal a Million was the first thing that popped into my mind but was The Sting won out. 🙂

A bit late to the party, but I vote for Heat. It's one of my favorite movies.

I even love the Dane Cook bit where he talks about being part of a heist. "No, no, no! Where's the van! The van was supposed to be here!"
