25 episodes is a stupid requirement. Therefore I ignore it and say Serial Experiments: Lain. I also enjoy Naruto, GITS: SAC, and Full Metal Alchemist a LOT, but Lain still stands above the rest. After those, it's Cowboy Bebop, Samurai 7, and Monster.

well "most" animes are 26 episodes, two 13 ep seasons, thats how they work it in japan, their are also many 1 season shows that go for 12 or 13 eps

some random ones are 24 eps, usially because of a double ep

then there are the ones based of hugly popular mangas liek Dragonball/z/gt, Naruto, Inuyasha, Bleach that will run for what seems like forever

so its not that stupid of a req

their are 2 that i woudl list with less then 26 eps

FLCL and Elfen Leid

too many to list. my current favs are in my sig.

just a few off the top of my head... Mahoramatic season2, 2x2=shinobuden, Galaxy Angel, Scrapped Princess, Uta-Kata, Onegai Twins, Di Gi Charat Nyo!, all great shows in my book. I mostly look for good characters, likable characters, voice cast, no absurdity and good sense of humor or touching material (or both). Then there are some oddball cases like Koi Kaze or Lain, shows that give you some food for thought. A definite message is a plus if the way they present it is effective, be it cliche or not (think Nanaka 6/17)

Might be a stupid requirement, I only put that number up to avoid the ones that might only have 3-4 or so on forth. You get the IDEA and one more thing, this is my FRIGGIN POST, I'll make the requirement anyway I like it. 😉 Until then feel free to disregard my "REQUIREMENT" and post what you think is the best.

I like Naruto, but it isn't that great.

DBZ gets a bit of credit for making a lot of regular Joes in the US at least peripherally aware of anime's existence.

Neon Genesis Evangelion
Gundam Seed
Trigun
I saw the Ghost in the Shell movie, but that's it. Seemed decent, but I wasn't overwhelmed or anything.
Samurai Champloo (currently watching, really like it)

I'd also like to request that you put the full name of the anime you're watching whenever possible; not everyone posting in here is going to know all about the best animes available, and acronyms/name shortenings won't help.

anyone know the english name of this manga? it's about kid's who became a superb kendo fighter.

and one with a group of 5 kids who wore bird suits in a special jet that can turn into a firebird.
i believe they ran for 3+ seaons with a new jet design in every season.

Gundam Wing but only 49 episodes 🙁

Yeah, I was always hoping that cartoon network just hadn't gotten the rest of the series yet but then I found out it was really that short. 🙁

Also a big fan of the movie Jin-Roh

Yaiba?

EDIT: My favourite is FMA, Rurouni Kenshin and Trigun.

I've never understood the fasination of seeing big robots fight and then a girl with some tenticle monster...

I tried watching NG Evangelion, but after the series, I decided to stop trying to like something I really hated.

Will someone please tell me what FMA means? Like I said, we're not all aware of all the latest and greatest anime coming out of Japan.

And Modeps... since no one apparently told you, not all anime consists of robots and tentacles. Thanks for passing through though, Assumption Avenue is over that way. 😉

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching

NG Evangelion, Bleach, Naruto *both which I rarely miss an ep.* and FMA = Full Metal Alchemist awesome series! Of course also Scryed.

Under 25 ep. FLCL rocks!

i despise tenticles, might have seen like 2-3 series with any robots at all in past 2 years or so, out of about anywhere between a half dozen to 15+ shows every quater year. at least you are not threadcrapping like other trolls here. funny thing i noticed with trolls is they crap all they want in others' posts and bitch the most when they get it right back.

FMA = Full Metal Alchemist a.k.a Hagaren
FMP = Full Metal Panic

Yeah, I thought Akira was just a movie too.

If there's a series (even though I haven't seen it) I like it.

Note: FMA and FMP are totally different. Actually, I don't even know why FMP is called FMP...

Other good series...hmmm....what do I have on my HDD?

Gungrave, Trigun, FMA, FMP(s), GITS:SAC, Seed...um. Actually those are all the ones that aren't fan service-y...'cause if you count those, then...Dears comes to mind.

We're keeping H material out of this right?

taken from wikipedia

Anime (???) is Japanese animation, often characterized by stylized colorful images depicting vibrant characters in a variety of different settings and storylines, aimed at a variety of different audiences. Anime is influenced by the drawing style of manga, or Japanese comics.

which one of those shows is a japanese animation? 0/10

akira was just a movie, but it was a six (big ass) book manga also.

I wish they'd make a battle royale anime. the manga and book kicked ass.

ewww.. Dears 😛 the only things i liked about the show was OP by UNDER17 and the fact they had a role for Shimizu Ai there.

i do realize FMP and FMA are different, in fact i own FMP on dvd but woudlnt watch FMA. FMP : The Second Raid preview clip is out in case you havnt noticed. luckily, they are not going back to gonzo this time; reportedely, kyoto animation is going to be in charge of the new series.
