My cold tip of the day, don't eat yellow snow. That can have a bad effect on ya.

beanie/scarf/gloves - just cover everything up and layer up with down jacket + sweater + hoodie/fleece. it's like 20 degree in NYC.

With snowblowers, wish it was easy to split between neighbors. If you think about it you'll only need it a few times each year. Unless of course you're in a snow heavy area, then it's a solid investment.

14F, feels like 3 here. I'm in Minneapolis too and I'm still trying to get everything cleaned up from last weekend. The wall of snow I'm building around the house takes forever! 14F is some fine shoveling weather!

Wimps! It's 1F here and I'm going to take the dogs to the park now and then go running afterwards.

lets talk about this again in july and 118 outside, while you guys are bitching about 95 :p

(and dont bring humidity into it, because 95 that "feels like 102" is still less than 118 that "feels like 117" )

It's going to be 50s here today, and we are getting FROST warnings at night! It is horrible!

And Pennsylvania is part of the North. The Mason-Dixon line (which officially divides the North and the South) is the south border of Pennsylvania.

PS - It gets cold in parts of North Carolina, especially the mountainous regions.

Hypothermia at 95F? Maybe a heat stroke, but not hypothermia lol.

It's -17C here, which is 0F. A little cold but I've seen much worse.

Fair

11 °F (-12 °C) Humidity: 58 % Wind Speed: NW 14 G 24 MPH Barometer: 30.17" (1026.0 mb) Dewpoint: -1 °F (-18 °C) Wind Chill: -5 °F (-21 °C) Visibility: 10.00 mi.
-5 with the windchill at the moment, it'll go back down to negative double digits by this evening. I'm in shorts and a t-shirt. And will be outside for a little while, although I'll toss on my lightweight hunting jacket (just because it has a hood) & a pair of barn boots. Yeah, I look like a dork with barn boots on, wearing shorts.

My issue with this is that take 45 and subtract 85 degrees (we can hit -40 wind chill every once in awhile).

Now take the 95 degrees and add 85 to it. That's 180 degrees. Little bit of a difference there. 95 is closer to the top of the "bearably hot" scale than 45 is on the "bearably cold" side.

Regardless, I hate any kind of heat over 70 if I'm not on a lake. That's the only option in weather 90-110. At least with the cold you can bundle up. Heat crushes my will to live because there is nothing I can do but stay inside. I was in Dallas last July and was praying for death. If I stayed outside during the day I probably would have gotten it! :)

i love cold weather, i generally dont bitch about it at all. i also dont mind the heat, otherwise i wouldnt live in phoenix area. and really, at -40 would it really feel any different than -10? i know to me 110 and 118 feel about the same. i was riding my motorcycle the two days it hit 123 here, didnt keep me inside hiding. i did get wind burned tho, was kind of weird lol. i dont want to do the math, but i doubt your analogy with the +-85 thing is really that accurate. its definitely not logical to me.
